Default We're not good enough....

Right now.

We need to chill people. Not the end of the world and we're still a work in progress. Adding Jermaine O'Neal was good but we're still trying to establish chemistry. Seeing how we've had three different starting line ups so far doesn't help build chemistry.

Yes we lost, but Orlando is a DAMN good team. They've learned to play together and their pieces compliment eachother.

Let's judge us at the end of December before we starting saying: Solomon sucks, fire Smitch etc. etc.

Yep..... .500 is pretty good for us, given how poorly we have played in our backcourt.

Am I really being apathetic though? How about more realisitic?

Look around the league and look at some records. See who we've had to play and analyze their records. There's a reason we're .500

I will say after 20 games we should see the true potential of where this team can be or not be.

I don't know, it is troubling that we're kinda lost without Jose and Bargnani's inconsistent play is starting to get old. It's not the end of the world, but so what, it's still annoying to watch the bonehead version of this team.

Barring the injury to Jose we should DEFINITELY be better than .500.

Call me a homer. I'm fine with that.

nah man, i agree. I think we're denately capable of being a .600 team. I don't think it's homeristic at all. the Calderon injury hurts, but at the same time, solomon should be a "servicable" PG. don't know what the hell that was last night - and in truth Orlando is BETTER than us. The thing that irritates me is losses to games we should win. Some of the ones before the Calderon injury.

Anybody looked at Parker's shooting percentage lately? Ouch - that hurts. If that keeps up then I'd have to be content with .500.

Bosh is amazing though. I only hope BC doesn't waste what is looking like a career year from a nice player like CB. If the disappearing act continues, then he has to do something.

The thing to me is, this is what good teams do.

They keep their heads just slightly above water until they figure things out and get into a nice groove.

Yea but they've been doing this for the past couple of years. Its just going to end up in a #6 seed in the East.

I think we all need a hug

Not really.

The season before last they really turned it on after Christmas. Last year they were never really fully healthy. As soon as a key guy came back another went out.

Yeah take a chill pill people...it's a totally different team dynamic now with two dominant bigs being the strenght rather than a bunch of 3 pt shooters. Once they figure out they can still get wide open shots for those shooters while getting the bigs their touches..things will improve.

We were missing our point guard and we committed what? 25 turnovers and we were still in the game. Give it some time. And give the Magic some credit - they were solid.

I do not agree with your statement that Orlando is a good team. Raptors was awful, besides CB4 and JO nobody else showed up. Too many turnovers, not able to make their jumpers, long or short range, no intensity on the defensive end.
With Jose back in lineup, Raptors should play more under control and they can beat Magic. Last year, the difference was nobody could stop D12, now we could see JO can stop D12.

Actually, I found the game last night rather reassuring. JO was a beast vs. Howard, Bosh was unstoppable when he wasn't making bad decisions with the ball and the reason we lost was atrocious ball-handling on offence, more so than anything else.

The picture slowly emerges - in Bosh, JO and Bargs we have the best big men rotation in the history of this team and probably one of the best in the NBA. When Ocho is running the team, we have a fighting chance against any team in the league, especially if perimeter defenders are at least a bit better than usual...

This team is a good coach and a good wing player away from contending. Good coach - for instilling team concepts on defence and offence and demanding their execution. Good wing player, capable of creating his own shot - for those times when we need to start outside-in, at the end of the games.

the reality is that we have some really really good pieces. JO is a monster on defense, CB is a monster on offense. Once Jose gets back, he has to prove he's an all-star level pg (so far he hasn't played even close to that). Bargnani can be the best backup big in the league by the end of the season. Maybe this season will be sacrificed in a way, I don't envision many scenarios where Mitchell is getting fired mid-season.

The way I see it, there are three possible outcomes to the rest of the season: we improve significantly and challenge for a top 3 spot in the conference and maybe make it to the second round. We continue to play .500 and make the playoffs in the final spots and lose in the first round. We play .500 or worse and fail to make the playoffs.
Unless we make it to the second round, Sam is going to be fired, there's no question about it. If we don't make the playoffs, we have the added benefit of a good lottery pick, and that will maybe give us enough pieces to pick up that missing wing, and assuming Bryan goes for a proven coach (which he will probably do), we should be in a really good position for the upcoming season.

Just to clarify - why, in your opinion, Calderon has not yet proven to be an All-Star caliber point guard?
