We're #9

....... in attendance

Toronto 18,959 average, 95.8% capacity

Its pretty good considering how far the team has fallen compared to the last couple years.

Dont forget, our numbers are true numbers. When the Raps anounce 19K, there is about 19K in the crowd.

I went to a "sold out" game last year in Miami...there might have been 3000 people there. Ticket prices in other arenas are much cheaper than the Raps. If you want to blow off a night, it's no big deal. Just go through Stub Hub and you will see the glut of cheap tickets are over the USA.

true

Memphis announces they have 12,000 many games but I only see a couple thousand, same with Charlotte and Atlanta.

Superjudge 02-16-2009 09:29 AM

Hey man, Toronto is a good place to play if you'r a "player".

Worship you when you play hard, kill you when you dog it, but always there to make that decision.

I hope Marion likes it here.

m5racer 02-16-2009 10:06 AM

Thats nice for MLSE. This further compacts the problem that: They can have shitty teams and still profit very nicely off the team by selling out many games. Good work MLSE :yeah: :tombstone:

Admiral 02-16-2009 10:31 AM

attendance is never a problem here because there is so much corporate tickets going on like the Leafs, half the tickets are already bought up before they hit the general public
raptors are always near the top in attendance, probably close to the top in terms of % sold for the capacity
its because Toronto has nothing else to latch onto in the nba, every other team is in the US and Toronto fans are hardcore about their team, i.e. the Leafs, that mentality has transferred over to the raptor fans and most fans have to be extra hardcore to defend against all the hockey fans

Raps4lyfe 02-16-2009 10:47 AM

The first sold outt game I went to was agaisnt Washington and when Bosh hit that three from half court to end the 3rd quater.

That building was hella loud!

Admiral 02-16-2009 10:55 AM

1st game i went to was when they played in the skydome, those crowds were massive even though nobody knew much about bball and the players were all expansion scrubs
but those crowds were enthusiastic and because it was really a baseball stadium the seating was massive and you could fit a ridiculous number of people

Gurk 02-16-2009 11:50 AM

The first game I went to was in 2005, I think. The Raps were playing the Spurs and were down by 20 but amazingly they came back and won somehow

fancylad 02-16-2009 12:06 PM

I know a lot of players say it.... JO said it when he was traded here, Bargnani said it in that cabbie playstation interview that Benzo posted, but i really think Toronto has one of the better fanbases of the NBA.

ESPECIALLY considering how shitty the team has been this year. You look at some other franchises when things aren't going so well, and they don't get the kind of support Toronto fans show by a mile.

Toronto is certainly one of the better basketball markets in North America.

Dark Knight 02-16-2009 01:04 PM

We're #8....................................in the draft lottery. Gettin closer and closer to Blake Griffin :yeah::dancing:

m5racer 02-16-2009 01:40 PM

Yes i think we are one of the best fan bases, Now the mood in the acc this year has not been even close to the last two, but we have a shitty ass reccord. The fans here support you when ur good, and they let you know when you suck. :dancing:

Dark Knight 02-16-2009 02:02 PM

Man, you must be mistaking us with Leaf fans

logicz 02-16-2009 11:17 PM

i've also noticed this, toronto really has a great crowd compared to the other cities in the U.S i don't know how some of the teams are gonna make thru the tough economic crisis we are heading for ...

Atlanta is a joke. They have such a good young team and yet people only come out for the playoffs. If they had that kind of crowd everygame like we usually have theyd win at least a couple more games at home. Their crowd was one of the best I've seen vs Boston, too bad theyre a bunch of frontrunners. ATL is a shit sports city. Same thing with the Braves and Falcons just not as extreme.

Atlanta is bad when it comes to the NHL and NBA.
The Falcons are well supported, but in the NFL who doesn't have good attendance?
Atlanta is a baseball city but they only average 2,000 more fans a game compared to the Jays.

Miami is another bad sports city.

Toronto is a top 5 sports city in N.A.

fancylad 02-17-2009 09:17 AM

miami is IMO the worst sports city in North America.

Its the worst sports city that has a team in all 4 major sports but Atlanta does give it a run for their money

Atlanta loves their falcons. The Hawks.. not so much.. and the Braves.. well, the first few years of winning division titles and making the playoffs, Braves tickets were hard to come by, but after the 8th division title in a row or so, the fans just stopped coming - even in the playoffs. But yeah, Atlanta is a crap sports town. Football is king.
