![]() To consider the statement fairly, you have to put aside your personal feelings towards Sonny.
The qualifying offer was for $1,091,000 That's not a lot of money if we're talking about the NBA. It's possible he'd get offered a bigger contract, but there are no guarantees in this climate. Lots of players who hardly see the court make more than that. And I'm not talking about guys who were signed when they could play and then something happened to them; I'm talking about players who are just signed to be the 10th guy on the bench. Sonny was probably going to get minutes for the Raps, so, in that context, he's a little underpaid, even if only by 500,000. But, when your career earnings are so low (around 2 million), that's a pretty big chunk of change. |

Maybe so but i don't think he's worth much more then 1Mil. He's had one decent season in the NBA and was injured a good chunk of last season. |

That's a risky move on Sonny's part. If he gets locked in over there, he could end up missing out on the Raptors' championship season over here.
On anther note, if the lockout goes on too long, I wonder who's going to end up getting fat. My votes go to Eddy Curry and Boris Diaw. And who's going to end up getting arrested for having too much time on their hands? I'm going with Delonte West and Demarcus Cousins. |

These guys said they were losing weight in the off season. They may very well, but a whole off season with no one on their ass to keep in shape....McDonald's, Burger King, KFC, Roscoe's, Long John silver (yeah, you'd think NBA players would have higher standards).....and I'm sure they know where the 24 hour buffets are.

I say Baron Davis goes off the rails and gets fatTER. I also can see someone like Carmelo gaining some weight for some reason. |

Anyways, on a related note, I don't necessarily think a Euro squad will give him more than the qualifying offer the Raps made. I'd guess this is more about job security. The prospect of the NBA season being cancelled is risky business for dudes like Sonny. At least the Euro salary would put money in his pocket. |
