Weems to see more minutes

Quote:

There will be more minutes for swingman Sonny Weems – likely at the expense of Antoine Wright – while Marco Belinelli and Hedo Turkoglu will get some time as the primary ball-handlers.

Weems, who has brought the kind of spark the team needs, if only in small doses, simply forced himself to the front of Triano's mind.

"Sonny's been very good lately," said the coach. "Yes, (his role will expand) because of the way he's come in lately and brought some energy."

Nice, he's not a huge game changer by any means, but he's played welll the last two games and he's the one guy on the perimeter who is quick and aggressive on the defensive end.

Ahhh I don't know... Weems does the exact same thing as Wright does... they both jack up horrible shots at times. Weems drives a bit more so w/e

Nothing to lose at this point. And i like having Hedo, Beli handling the ball more along with Jack of course. I think we're gonna see less Banks. I think when Jack sits we'll see a lineup of Beli/Wright/Hedo/Bargs/Johnson

i remember alot of people disagreed with me when i suggested bellineli run the pg position. lol, banks aint going to cut it!!

I've liked Weems since first seeing him in preseason. He isnt' shy and is always a threat on the court, and he's a decent passer as well.

Small doses. Please, small doses.

Both Wright and Weems suck, but at least Weems doesnt dribble and try to create his shot as often. Neither should EVER, but at least Weems does it a lot less.

I'd much rather have Weems out there than Wright. They're more or less a wash on defense, Weems may actually be better, but Weems is SO much less of a liability on offense than Wright is. He's been playing within himself the past couple of games which I like, he should be a solid spark off the bench.

Yea Weems > Wright. Sonny looks a bit better than Wright on the defensive side too, and he doesn't force his game as much as Wrgiht

:haha:
oh god Sonny Weems!

Weems does try to be a hero like Wright.
Wrights attempts at 3s have knocked us out of games

jeffb 12-13-2009 11:56 PM

Weems has been good the last few games but that won't last imo. I hope i'm wrong becuase Wright has been shit, but i'm very leary in getting the slightest bit excited yet. This reminds me of when Moon first came to play with us and everyone jumped on that bandwagon. Then he started taking ill advised shots (as Weems often does) and showed that he was a pussy (which i hope Weems doesn't do?)

Time will tell i guess. At this point though i don't give a flying shit who plays, as long as we win games.

I think it's long overdue and about time Triano gives him some run. Weems can really benefit the team if we develop him as seriously as we would any draftee. He adds another element of athleticism which we for whatever reason seem to have lacked to any significant degree the last few years. You watch all these other teams come in loaded with athletic guys and than there's us, the slow, methodical and predictable Raps.

lesser of two evils
I hope to see some jumpers fall now

Weems needs to know when not to shoot, but he hasnt been even close to as bad as Wright has been in that sense. He is actually shooting ok percentages and is good at running the floor.

Hope he can just keep the good play up. Wouldnt want him to turn out to be Joey II. He does look like Joey, which scares me.

Why can't some of you dudes just take things at face value? Why do you have to scrutinize everything a guy does down to the way he toes his shoes?

Weems is a young guy finding his way in the NBA who has earned minutes by being active and by playing hard. Good for him...he's got an opportunity and so far he's making the most of it.

What has been killing us this year is turnovers, especially the points surrendered after each turnover. Whenever Wright dribbles, its a turnover waiting to happen. People want Belli to be a point guard, how many times do we have to see this guy get stripped. If Weems gets more minutes, play your role, and don't force the action. If Jose is out long-term, get a point guard who can handle & protect the ball and allow our bench players to play within their roles.

Yep - I can even handle Banks getting 9 minutes, with Hedo on the floor. Triano really needs to get consistent minutes from people and clean up a lot of the mistakes so that the good play of guys like Bosh, Jack and Hedo doesn't get wasted so much. And then anything that Bargnani can provide just makes games easier, instead of relying so heavily on him to be a guy that is going to carry the team to win after win, or be responsible for losses due to not being able to measure up to such expectations every night.

Lol, my wife said he looked like Joey too, she thought he was until I told her we didn't resign him.
