Thumbs up Weekly Power Rankings

Quote:
A look at the standings since Christmas can be pretty eye-popping, especially in the Eastern Conference. The Cavs, despite their recent mini-slide, have been the best team in the East at 21-6 in the last eight-plus weeks. No surprise there.
Behind Cleveland, though, are three teams that had a combined 35-50 record on Christmas morning. Since then, the Raptors (17-7), Bulls (19-9) and Bobcats (16-11) have all been better than the Magic (16-12), Hawks (14-12) and Celtics (12-14).
Yes, if you've been paying attention, you knew that Toronto, Chicago and Charlotte were playing well. And though the Raptors are now five games over .500 and the Bulls are three games over, it will still be tough for either to catch the Hawks and earn home court advantage in the first round on the playoffs.
But from the way they've been playing over the last two months, both teams have the right to stay focused on Atlanta without worrying about what's going on behind them in the standings.

Previous ranking (11)
Pace: 95.7 (11), Off: 109.1 (2), Def: 108.8 (30)
With a home-heavy schedule, the Raps have won 10 of their last 12. They haven't faced a team with a winning record in almost a month, but will see four of them in the next eight days, a good test to really start the home stretch.
Finally, we have made our presence and now we are in the top 10, and their even talkin about us

ESPN has us at 11th (down 1)

The Raps are 20-7 since their 11-17 start. They made it through the trade deadline having endured only minimal Bosh speculation. And they know Colangelo is staying as GM whether Bosh stays or not. Pretty good times.

Pretty high considering Wednesday's collapse and our strength of schedule lately. Inconsequential either way, very much a bandwagon ranking.

i think that the next few games will really make a statement about what our team is really about. If we bomb the next few, our previous wins will basically mean nothing. But if we can dominate in the next few, i think we will be finally be considered one of the strongest team in the league

Seriously, if you need to be validated by the US media, then there are problems.

It's Toronto Raptors not the Canada Raptors.

What about them Jazz? Ever since that game winner against the Cavs by Gaines they have been running a train through the NBA. They are my dark horse in the west. If anyone is going to beat the Lakers to make it to the finals it will be the Jazz.

The team that is on a 17-2 tear is your dark horse? Bold...

I always give a little chuckle when I tune into a Utah Jazz game and see them run the basic flex offense for two or three rotations.

It's awesome. That whole team should go with short shorts.

Lakers are the defending champs and the jazz aren't even second behind them. I think if any team beats the Lakers in the west it will be Utah...Just saying, you don't have to be a sarcastic ass about it.

Actually, I've lived in every province in Western Canada (currently reside in Victoria) and there are diehard fans in every city I've been. The Raps definitely rep Canada as a whole.

You're right. Unless they win tonight, then they will be in second... Just saying, not a huge leap to suspect the team with the best record in the last 20 games might have a chance.

The Jazz deserve the honour no matter how short lived as well as the Raptors moving up.
The next couple weeks will be the deciding factor on the Raptors.
Hopefully Bosh will get back at least after the Portland game.
LA should still be winnin g with all the Superstars.
Cleveland shows even a small change in getting Jamison can distrupt a teams chemistry.
( those of you including myself who were down on JT earlier in the year) little less 9 new players including 2 starters now 3.
