We need to lose more games

We're winning too many games right now, affecting our chances at getting a top pick. We need to make some trades to get worse.

bigmandinky 03-05-2012 12:34 AM

Wow you're right, I can't believe Raptors management hasn't thought of this yet!

Someguy again 03-05-2012 12:39 AM

fuck it. who cares.

cavaliers went on a good run at the end of last season and landed the top pick, might as well end this season on a happy note instead of a bunch of blowouts.

Reghner 03-05-2012 12:53 AM

this year, definitely not going to the playoffs, but if we continue like that, Neither do we have a good first choice ... at least we do not take someone with a strong right away, and with the return of Bargs, we try to win them all ...

Bankiz 03-05-2012 04:52 AM

1. tank isn't good for the development of our player. bad message for them.
2. bad for the fan.

and a high draft pick isn't a sure star.
too many example of that.

Nick17 03-05-2012 05:36 AM

Whilst I want a high Draft pick, tanking is not the way to go about it. It's important for the players to respect the jersey, respect the fans, and respect the sport ........ and thus to give of their best at all times.

Toby 03-05-2012 07:03 AM

Think of it as your best player is hurt, and the younglings are getting good experience. Don't tank on purpose, you guys are a better organization then New Jersey.

LET'S GO RAPTORS!!!!! 03-05-2012 01:38 PM

I agree with Toby, don't tank on purpose.

jeffb 03-05-2012 01:40 PM

We weren't about to get a top 3-4 pick anyway. We're likely looking at 6-8 or so. Can you imagine if Bargnani hadn't got hurt. IMO we'd have at least 6-7 more wins right now.

Raptors1995 03-05-2012 01:46 PM

We seriously need to start losing more games. If the season ended today, we would be entering the lottery as tied for the sixth worst team. We need to move players for draft picks - ie) Barbosa; and tank the rest of the way.

Raptors1995 03-05-2012 01:48 PM

I don't want us losing expiring contrats for nothing again. Donyell Marshall, Morris Peterson, Mike James.

moremilk 03-05-2012 01:52 PM

we nearly have the easiest schedule in the league so far, things will turn for the better .... soon ... :)

expiring contracts are not that valuable anymore, especially when there are so many of them around.

RAPMAN 03-05-2012 02:14 PM

It would be nice to lose more games to get a better chance of a higher draft pick, but you gotta love what the coach is doing with a team that is less talented than the opponent almost every night. I would love to see what Casey does with a better team. Probably the best move BC has done in his tenure with the Raps:

"The Raps were offensively challenged with Andrea Bargnani and are on-their-knees grateful when they get to 90 points without him. Yet they've actually proved that they can consistently beat their own kind with their improved D under Dwane Casey, posting a 10-8 record against sub-.500 teams."

Trade Jose for youth/picks and you get your wish. and it should happen anyway.

in response to:

It depends on who that expiring contract is. When the Raptors had Mike James and he was averaging 20 plus points and was not apart of the Raptors future plans we should have at least netted a late first round draft pick for him. The same can be said for Donyell Marshall, who at the time, was playing at a high level and garnered a lot of attention from other teams.

that was then and now is now, things are different
besides the fact that almost every team has some expiring contracts and/or tpes, most teams are in contraction mode, they only have two years to balance their books so to speak, until the full cba rules take effect. So not a lot of teams are looking to add salaries.

look at how many tpes are going unused, and tpes are probably more valuable than expirings.

Raptors1995 03-05-2012 08:29 PM

Yes, expiring contracts were definitely more valuable in the past. I'm just frustrated with the Raptors track record when it comes to getting value for expiring contracts. Barbosa, is putting up some good numbers and will definitely help a contending team. I would try at the very least to extract a pick from another team for him. In fairness to management, they may very well be trying to move him.

we're winning games because our young players are starting to step it up. i'll take that with an 8th overall pick over the alternative with the 3rd.
