Default We Don't Even Need Boozer

You all forgot how good JV was at the beginning of the season after he got injured. Still a rookie who's barely even played.

Amir is a monster who just needs to calm down on the rebound outlet pass

Bargnani off the bench actually gives him competitive drive instead of trying to sell pasta on the fact that he's a raptor's starter

Basketball is a game of ups and downs. Anyone remember opening night 2009 when we beat Lebron's Cavs at home? We were set to be contenders. Tonight was a great team win - we fired on pretty much all cylinders. But we'll have to see how things play out. If Bargnani can continue to thrive in this role, then we've got a good thing going. We might not need Boozer, but don't we still lack a forward presence like his?

EDIT: After ~3 years of lurking, I came back from retirement after the win tonight.

I think where raps strugle is half-court set. I get we want a run and gun pace... but none of our pfs do that... maybe discluding Amir... he helps out at times. We already goodish in the fast break without Andrea. Boozer on the other hand helps in the half-court. Not so much in the full court, but neither do MOST (90%) of big mens. And almost none, including JV make a huge enough impact as much as a boozer would.
The problem with Boozer is his salary, similar to Gay. But guess how many of you are against Rudy Gay now? Yea.

Give Bargnani credit, guy looks like 13 game Bargnani from last year, playing both sides of the ball and looks like he's trying to adapt to the systems and players. The scoring numbers aren't there, but he's shooting efficiently and with time he should start getting more touches. He looks just a tad hesitant to fire away.

I mean he was out there with 5 personal fouls (3 of them were trash calls, you all remember Hansbrough flops) in crunch time defending both West and Hibbert and held his own. I don't even recall a late hedge.

Lowry took a comfortable seat on the bench while the Raptors were starting to turn it around, and people wondered if he could adapt and change his style of play, and he has. No reason Bargs can't, whether he starts or is 6th man, he could be vital as a 2nd or 3rd option..

You have to keep Amir in the game because he's been a beast, and you need to have one of Gray or Val starting at C, so you bring Bargnani off the bench unless Amir goes down. Even if Bargs doesn't start, you can still finish the game with him, like tonight.

I actually did blank out on Andrea on the half court set. My bad.

Even though he only had 2 boards, it didn't really seem like Bargs was giving up any either. In addition, we actually ended up out-rebounding the Pacers, which is a huge feat. Really liked the role that Bargs played today and I honestly think he could be a 16 ppg+ bench scorer going up against all those backup bigmen that can't help but bite on his pump fakes

Good thing is, I don't think this kind of effort on the glass is an anomaly. Amir had multiple huge rebounding games and Jonas is a guy thats guaranteed to get tons of boards if he continues to play with that kind of energy. Not to mention the number of fouls he drew and balls he kept in play. Dude is like a younger, more skilled Joakim Noah; just wait till he gets bigger!

Bargs can be amazing off the bench...he just needs a better pg to play with...please not lucas.

Starters: Lowry, DD, Gay, Amir, JV
Bench: Lucas (or get a good back up PG), Ross, Fields (AA if Field is still injured), AB and Gray

I like Casey's minutes on the Pacers' game...some ill-advised subs here and there but overall it was a tight rotation. I like his bigs' rotation...need to work on the wings now. I would like to see less DD minutes...and 5-10 mins more to Ross...

Keep in mind he is a seven footer who plays away from the rim.

Dude can become something special like Duncan, nothing special or fancy but a double double machine. People thought I am crazy when I said it before, but I still feel this way. He is very very young and I like what I see in him, you gotta love his energy.

i think he's gonna be like Joakim Noah...with better offensive skills. We need to surround AB with a rebounder/defender C and SF on the second unit to be a solid group!

duncan is possibly the best pf to ever play the game so you're setting the bar just a bit too high

he can be good though. I don't think he'll ever be as polished as duncan on offence, which i'm ok with. we weren't expecting him to be a hall of famer

Bargn88, Lowry adapted in his first months in Toronto while Bargnani couldn't do it it many years, what makes you think he'll do it in a week?

wow with Bargnani on the floor our overall depth and talent on court moves up dramatically

its impressive to see a amir, bargnani, gay, derozan, and lowry lineup

or a bargnani, jonas, ross, gay, lowry,

there is some serious talent on this roster,

the 2 rbs don't mean much if you watched the game, he was battling out there blocking out his man making sure they werent geting the rebound in the meantime amir and jonas would clean up

bargnani had hibbert pinned a couple of times pissing him off

plus Bargnani help defense actually made a difference in the fourth, he was forcing the pacers into mistakes

enough about that though, i'm just overall impressed by the talent and don't understand why we would mvoe Bargnani for boozer,

bargnani adds taht punch that the Raptors need off the bench, a legit threat who demands attention

Whats our peak with Amir starting at PF, versus getting an already established starting PF with Amir playing 25-30 mpg off the bench? I'd say the ceiling is much higher for us as a team with the latter scenario.

Amir seems like a team guy, I just hope we don't offend the guy by keep on looking for a starting 4. The guy has killed himself for this team, and in my mind he's earned the starting role until we find a LEGITIMATE starting power forward. He's also really earned that contract we gave him. I love that he added the outside shot.
