oh, no doubt. but this is part and parcel of having all 3 major teams in the midst of rebuilding.

-the leafs blew the future for the lockout season and went on and on like that for years before finally committing to a rebuild.

-the jays tried to make it with roy, but had a pitching staff decimated by long-term injuries. anthopolous is now rebuilding the right way.

-vince forced his way out after pushing the team to invest in a bunch of mediocre players (ad, alvin, jyd). after he bailed on the squad he campaigned for the team to sign, it took us years to get out from under that. the raps then tried several ways to get veteran talent to work with bosh, but it never worked out and they are now rebuilding the right way.

-carlos' contract was a noose. he had to be traded. this was a wise move.

the point is just that it is a waste of breath to talk about your team not being deep when it is just beginning it's rebuilding process. demar knows this, as do most of the guys on our various teams. if, by the time demar's contract is up, the raps are still a shallow bunch of losers, you will have a point. but even in that circumstance he is financially motovated to re-sign with the team. our guys are so young and the cba is geared towards re-signing (and will likely be even more so in the new cba). we are not currently in any danger of guys bolting, and we have several years to build a playoff contender before that happens.

yes, we need to be better and deeper. that's what rebuilding is all about.
