@ Washington- 96pts given up in 4 quarters (11in OT) Wiz shot 37%

@ Chicago- 78pts given up- Bulls shot 39%

vs Minnesota- 88pts given up- Wolves shot 37%

= An average of 87.5 points against per 4 quarters and an average opponents %FG of 37.7

Now, the opponents aren't exactly the best of the league by any stretch. But that being said i've been impressed with the defensive energy and the overall active hands and talking when on D. Much improved from the shitty lackluster crap we were seeing prior to the game in Washington. Let's hope we can continue to improve on our own end and this is just the begining.

I didnt get to see the WAS game but against MIN and CHI its definately the opponents.

When you have no explosive players that attract the defence its easy to defend.

MIN just passed it around the perimeter and post hoping we'd make a mistake which is just awful in itself.

CHI is just in shambles and their best player is hurt, and their 2 wingmen cant create for themselves off of the dribble which made it easy on us. Tack on that they have no bigmen that can score it made it even easier.

We'll see how well our defence has 'improved' come the next 3 days.

VS Mil our perimeter defence will be tested every possession because they either run screen plays off the ball or pick and rolls most of the time. Add on the fact that Bogut has a history of beating up Bargnani in the post itll be even tougher. I can see Ilyasova and Delfino as well as Bell having haydays from 3 if we dont defend them right.

Vs ATL its everything. They have superior athleticism, their PG always kills us, we cant keep them off the OFF boards, and Joe Johnson breaks us down and their frontcourt is the recipients of the breakdowns. They have all facets of the offence covered, only way to stop them is to force tough outside shots and get on the boards and that will obviously be extremely tough.

And vs Houston, theyre probably in the top 5 worst matchups in the NBA for us along with ATL. They drive and kick for 3s, theyre the best off rebounding team this year in the NBA, and they have an extremely quick PGs who mutilates slower PGs. The key vs them is to make Brooks beat us and not let Ariza and Battier hit a bunch of 3s, and keeping Landry off the boards is HUGE. Amir is gonna have to play big.

they are definitly putting in more effort, however they are still not a good defensive team. there are still a lot of mistakes, but i think if they can keep this effort level up they will be able to fix alot of these issues. But, i think the most important thing to understand is that the Raptors don't have to be an amazing defensive team. with their offensive talents, they can be a very successful team by just playing average defense.

Bargnani came up huge defensively in the last two minutes with the game tied against Minny, twice he guarded Flynn and both times stopped his dribble penetration dead at the baseline. That kind of effort has been symbolic of the whole team defensively the last three games. Even Turk is buying in and playing so much tougher in the defensive end. There's no question it's more about the extra effort than the competition we've played.

The Raptors definitely have a better effort from the past 3 games. Last night, the majority of shots by Minnesota were contested. I've got to say tho, Hedo is the laziest defender on the Raptors. He seems like he just doesn't care to try to get a defensive stop, but instead tries to go for the steal, and if it doesn't work, he fouls. Good effort by the rest of the team tho, but Turkuglu really needs to play harder on defense and worry less about his offense.

i think we should wait until we play atlanta again. that game will show if our d has improved or if its just that we can play against weaker teams and stop 'em well.

So whats your point here. Caldy was not needed against the Hawks as were the rest of the starting unit. Jarett Jack led the 2nd unit on the floor. Jack played 32 mins. Good game to get the 2nd unit some burn. Jack played 32 minutes and Jose with his 19 minutes had a better plus in the game. Regardless we are playing well and its great to have Jarett on the team this year because it could have been Roko and Willy out there last night.

The D has definitely improved.... but the fact that we played 3 weak teams has also helped.

Tonight we get a REAL test in MIL.

If we can hold THEM to sub 40% shooting and under 100 pts. then I'll be REALLY impressed.

How does a hamstring injury last season and a groin injury this season make him injury prone?
