Are we in for another Jose vs Ford Part deux?

TJ or Calderone.
remember how much fun that was?
fans were split into two sides... message boards were filled with TJ vs Caldy threads... haters, homers, neutral parties... it was a headache for everyone. and in the end, TJ was traded away and Caldy was given the reigns. some people to this day still hate that decision, while others love it.

With the aquisition of Jarrett Jack, are we headed into another PG scenerio like we had 2 years ago?
it seems oddly familiar... young, offensive, passionate, high octane PG... vs the safe, pass-first, high percentage PG...

look at what happened last season in Indy. JJ took over multiple times and caused a PG controversy over there with his constant battles with TJ. they shared starters minutes, disliked each other off the court, and had many fans debate who should be the starter.

what are the odds of that same thing happening here? again?
are we in for another seasonof debating?
are we in for Jose vs TJ the sequal?

takman_777 07-17-2009 09:45 AM

No, JJ will not be the prima dona that TJ is, he knows he is NOT the starter and it won't be an issue...:dancing:

If you're an insider, you'd know this wouldn't be an issue.

Jarret Jack: young, talented, and he's a class act.

henrymakepeace 07-17-2009 09:55 AM

I smell Calderon getting traded next year.

how is/was TJ not a class act?
and what the heck does being a class act have to do with being a starter on a team?
if a player is playing well (classy or not) and his counterpart is slumping (classy or not), of course there will be debates over who should be starting.

I sense BC is prepared to trade Jose

TORaptor4Ever 07-17-2009 10:02 AM

No.

"Me-J" sucks and Jose is a borderline all-star.

That's the difference. :mischief:

I agree. I can't fault TJ for anything. he definately wasn't a malcontent.

I think competition between Jack and Calderon will be a good thing.

Superjudge 07-17-2009 10:16 AM

Jose's minutes will be reduced, and Jack will get his run in so all will be fine.

Keep in mind Jack is a combo who can spell ya at the 2 spot.

His lastname is a bit unfortunate though lol :)

we were winning when we had a pg controversy......so it wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing, especially if it drives them both to be better basketball players...

Claudius 07-17-2009 11:53 AM

We weren't actually winning when we had a PG controversy. The first year TJ was here, we played well, but by the middle of that first season when the controversy first arose, I think we played at or near below .500 ball the rest of the way instead of playing at a higher clip.

This does have the potential to turn ugly, espescially if you have Chris Bosh's (closest?) friend involved.

'trane 07-17-2009 11:54 AM

if jose has a debilitating injury that keeps him out for an extended time and, while subbing in the starting role, jack emerges as a potentail star in the making we will have a problem. otherwise we have a clear starter and a clear bench player.

zachus 07-17-2009 12:01 PM

Jack will be getting enough burn at the two to offset whatever burn he doesn't get playing backup for Jose. With the Delfino signing looking more and more unlikely everyday there's still the possibility that Jack starts the season at the two, especially if the coaching staff decides to bring Demar along slowly.

llpublicenemyll 07-17-2009 12:08 PM

naw i think we'll be ok, the roles are probably cleary defined right bc? ANSWER ME.... we are gonna be ok right, oh man.....we will be fine:dancing:

NaturallyStoned 07-17-2009 12:11 PM

The scuffle, iirc, was nothing to do with minutes. It was more to do with TJ dominating the ball. I don't think we'll have that problem here.

dmbphan041 07-17-2009 12:19 PM

where's Roko in all this talk?

raptor123 07-17-2009 12:20 PM

I think that we will not have a PG controversy. Calderon is our starting PG and the Toronto fans support him. Jose is arguebly the fans favourite. He plays hard, and gives his best all the time and its all about the team, thats why Toronto fans love him.

Jack knows what happened in Toronto with TJ. He's not nieve, he knows that Jose is the starter. Jack is here for the money, something the Pacers were not willing to pay him as of yet. 7 days are moving pretty quick. If the Pacers were able to move Ford they would but who really wants that head ache. I really believe that Jack wants to stay with the Pacers because he will play more .

Jack will not come close to the minutes played last year. Jose will get his 30 mins a game at the PG spot. Our rookie DD will get alot of burn at the 2 spot. Jack will average about 20 mins a game.

Jack knows full well he is coming to Toronto as a back up. I hope the Pacers don't match because Jack will solidify our back up spot at the point guard. The way scoobie do Douby is playing in summer ball not only will he take minutes from Roko he might take some minutes from Jack at the 2 spot.

babyface 07-17-2009 12:41 PM

why do we have 4 point guards lol?
