Default Wade to Toronto very likely - according to Jack

no, not really .... still, on the Fan590 Hoop show, they were talking tonight about the possibility of Wade coming to Toronto. And Eric or Paul was talking about an interview with Wade in Miami where he was saying that he is impressed with the job BC has done so far, and the way our team is built from the top down, with great big men and outstanding shooters on the perimeter.

And I was thinking after that, let's just assume for sake of conversation, that in 2010 BC gets unlimited funding from MLSE abd Bargnani becomes a legit center. If we let JO go, technically we might have enough money to sign wade. The team waiting for him would be Jose + Bosh + Bargnani, and adding wade would most likely make us top contender to the title. On the flip side, if Bosh decides to join wade in miami, that team would only be wade + Bosh + beasley, which is arguably significantly worse.

SO he would have a MUCH better chance at a championship in TO, even more, a very high chance of a championship here. Wade and CB4 share the same agent as well. Wade is a smart guy (unlike idiots like Gary Payton), so he would not see Canada as a sort of 3rd world country or something. Winning a championship here would make for unbelievable publicity on both sides of the border (first time a canadian team wins the NBA, euro-raptors, etc). Exposure would not be an issue, since a team with bosh, wade and Jose would get lots of nationally televised games (like vc did in his golden years). So there are a lot of incentives to come, and not that many to stay away.

I highly doubt it would happen.
Players just don't leave MIAMI for TORONTO.
And Wade + Bosh + Beasley combo isn't necessarily SIGNIFICANTLY worse.

Oh and Wade compliments EVERY team. He's just a nice guy.
In that same interview, he was talking about how great their next opponent (Indiana!!) was and how they have to be prepared for them.

OMG I get a woody just thinking about that.

A Wade Raptors jersey.... I think that I'd actually buy one of those... and it'd be the first one that I'd have bought since my VC jersey... *shudder*

No a chance of him ever coming here.

Jack also joked about us signing Nash.

I'd say Nash is more of a realistic signing than wade, though it's doubtful Nash would have much left in the tank.

Very true but this is the same guy who gives 10% of his contract to a Chicago Church. Also he is the same guy who was "rumoured" to have dated Star Jones.

I'm not saying Wade is coming to Toronto I'm just saying Wade isn't your regular player

Just wanted to throw in a good word for Wade - a class act, the way I see him carry himself.

Unlike assholes like KG and Pierce, he never showboats, even though he is as good (if not better) at taking the games over as those two fuck-ups. On Wednesday, he was dunking on people seemingly at will, but I failed to note a single stare or a chest-pump from him, let alone primal screams. And when JO blocked the hell out of his shot late in the fourth, Wade jawed with him a bit, both smiling. Now, that's a type of assassin I'd love to have on my team.

Will he come here? Anything's possible, but I wouldn't hold my breath for that. It'd have been totally awesome though.

With all due respect to Jose, it'd have been the other way around.

When healthy, Wade is just such a complete offensive player, it's not even funny. He should (and will, I am sure) work more on his 3-point shot, but he is nearly unstoppable even without it. On top of that, he is a great passer and, when he has enough energy left, a very tough and athletic defender.

As far as 2-guards currently playing are concerned, I consider him second only to Bryant.

you are right mike, not sure that isn't what i meant to say given that i think both are very good players, i think wade would love to have a solid, consistant point guard beside him at this point in his career. we have 3 point shooters who used to be good! he wouldn't have to do that on this team. just play and be great, sounds like an easy fit to me.

yeah .... and americans will never elect a black president, right? Things change, and you should never judge everybody by the standards set by idiots like gary payton or that aldridge guy on nba tv. Toronto has a good reputation as a city, BC has a great reputation as a GM, and the Raptors have a good team right now.

and Bosh / wade / beasley is worse imo because they lack both a center and a pg, which are the two most important positions in the league. Not to mention that beasley and Bosh are both weak defenders, especially in the post.

Wade would be a great piece to add to our team. But then again, he would be a great piece on any team in NBA. Its up to BC to make something happen
