Default Von Wafer signs...

I have a good friend who is in with the MLSE telling me the Raptors are making a push for him, it would involve them releasing POB. Apparently they want a player who ca ncreate sudden offense for the playoffs. More to come.

Apparently it's between us the Mavs and 1 disclosed team who wants him...All teams want to make a push in the playoffs.

Why didn't you just say that in the OP?

Plus he's gonna end up in Dallas anyway.

For once Jeff, I hope you are right, I don't really think Wafer would work here.

He can score in bunches and could be an asset off the bench, just insurance off the bench...i'd be ok with that. If one or more of DD,Wright, Beli, Weems run into injury issues Wafer would be ok as added punch.

If we're healthy he probably wouldn't play much.

Maybe he's not as wildly inconsistent as Belinelli is.

I've read reports where Dallas has brought him in for a second workout.

True, would be nice in the playoffs...like what he did for Houston last year. Probably will go with the Mavs though. BC is known for stealing players from other teams under their feet though lol.

In terms of scoring he's better than Belli and at the very least would be more consistent. He has tunnel vision at times and can be a bit of a head case. I'd have to say I'd be neutral if this were to happen - wouldn't complain, but there's nothing to really get excited about either.

From ESPN Insider:

Quote:
ESPNDallas.com reports the Mavericks will work out Von Wafer one more time before they decide if they are going to sign him to a 10-day contract.

"He can shoot it. We know that, and he's athletic," president of basketball operations Donnie Nelson said. "When he's healthy, he can defend. His athleticism is the thing that kind of separates him, but we want to see where he's at physically and have a chance to work him out one more time."

What's holding up Wafer right now is his sore back, which the team will evaluate again. Earlier this season he tried to hook on with the Grizzlies, but his back left him with a failed physical.

With Caron Butler and Jason Terry holding down the shooting-guard position, Wafer might not see much time, but if the Mavs need him, he's proven he can score in bunches.

10 day?

I bet $$ BC would be willing to sign him for the rest of the season/playoffs outright.

Von would definitely be promised more playing time here. I don't think being on a championship calibre team is a huge deal when you're deciding between a 10-day contract and the league minimum.

I'm thinking Hedo and Weems would lose minutes...Unless Hedo improves dramatically.
