If VC makes it into the hall, it will say more about the hall than VC. In other words, it will lessen it's value. There has to be more than one check mark beside a guys name.
Everything I've seen regarding the Hall shows some indication that they approach everything in such a matter, wanting to retain its value and emphasizing contributions to the game more than stats and flashy play. How a guy played and whether he overachieved or underachieved matters. And with those in the Hall weighing the choices it should come down to who served the game better as opposed to stats based formulas.

Too bad for Vince he didn't come up in the "big three" era.

Lets not pretend that if he was on a great team and made it to the finals that he could have played the exact same way and done the exact same things he has but suddenly would be worthy. The irony is that his sulking out of town is made all the more valid then.

So if that is the case, more power to guys sneaking around behind the scenes trying to form superteams, more power to Dwight and Deron, more power to the next group of elite players who take their talents to the 5 or so desirable markets.

I just hope that doesn't mean we are a perpetual farm team.

with players nobody else wants - which is exaggerating - but I could live with seeing a farm team with players that are all-NBA

I know, you'd think I was a VC fanboy, but not-so-much.

But his chances aren't getting any worse.

Just passed Gary Payton all-time, about to pass Clyde Drexler.

I wonder if he's the type of guy to latch on with the Heat. That would put him over the top.

The only glaring omission from this list so far is A.I. for reasons that seem pretty clear.

Should we put his statue just outside the ACC or in one of the main corridors inside?

I'd do it gladly if it was a statue of him wincing on the ground with the caption 'never again'.

the fun part is that we get to choose what we watch, read, and remember. I simply choose to remember his first 3-4 years. I haven't seen any player entertain like he did in those years, he made watching games a priority.

He had a good stretch of games. And he mailed in a good bunch of games. Great? There wasn't anything great about him. Being on an underachieving team is his calling card.

If we don't win a playoff series before the point when his HOF candidacy starts... he will get in for sure.

Ah, memories.

Unfortunately, he would sell more tickets to his charity games in Toronto than the team would get to regular games.

We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Vince is a free agent next year. He currently makes 3 mil. (And Landry Fields will make what, 8 mil next year? LOL!)

In the rotatation behind Demar and Ross. Come on home, Vince.

It would be pretty cool if he would retire as a raptor

That brings back lots of memories. I think I went to all of those games. It was fun to have a player important enough to host a charity game of that scale. I think Nash tried the year after, and I may have even went to that, but it clearly wasn't much of a success.

I'd like to see him back and get over those problems. Yes, he made a huge mistake, but in retrospect, it wasn't really personal - that's just the way he was. And, unlike Bosh for example, he never said anything bad about Toronto, not that I can remember at least (selective memory maybe).

If you put in balance all the good he did here, vs all the bad, and with the benefit of hindsight, I wouldn't mind if he retires as a raptor. A flawed hero to be sure, but then again, this was a flawed franchise for so long.

And yes, I think he should be a HOF because he was a top 5 player in the league for a number of years and his dunking was the stuff of legends. Not the type of guy you'd want to build a franchise around, but he was one of the great talents of the last 20 years. If T-Mac makes it (and he probably will), than Carter should make it too.

Pretty sure he wasn't forced to leave.

2 things went wrong.

1. Can't wait until way after you publicly say you want to leave to tell the coach you want to stay. There was already a deal on the table and they took it.

2. The guy who drafted Hoffa instead of Iguodla should have signaled incomptence to all but no, he also was allowed to make the trade, which was absolute garbage, That should have been another signal not to let the same guy make the picks they got. But no, this was all compounded by the fact he picked CV3 and Joey Graham.
