Dude, you were about 8 or 9 (if even that) when Carter and T-Mac were at their peaks. Carter was not a better defender than T-Mac. Young T-Mac was lockdown.

Obviously championships mean something, but the absence of them do not mean a guy has not achieved. If he had come up in the "big 3" era, he may have a couple of championships, but lower stats. Does that make him a better player?

If Chris Bosh wins 3 or 4 championships in Miami, he'll probably go in based on his ability to parasite off better players.

And if Vince can't get in, what's Chris Mullin doing in there?

And more fodder near end of Butch Carter's interview pushing VC as HOFer.

I like that Kobe has a higher stated probability of making the Hall of Fame than a number of players who already have.

All of the predictors listed above were significant at the 0.05 level. Other than height, all of the predictors had positive coefficients.

Keep in mind that my goal was not to determine who in the Hall of Fame, but rather who is likely to be in the Hall of Fame.

So there is a 0.0001 chance that Duncan will not make the hall of fame.

It would be guranteed if he at least made an NBA Finals appearance but he hasn't been on a team that has advanced beyond the Conference Finals, not once in his career. On the strength of the word " Fame ",I'd put him in because he played very good for the majority of his career, influenced alot of new players and won a Gold medal with the USA Men's Basketball team at the 2000 Olympics where he was the face of the squad but he may not be completely worthy of a Hall Of Fame nod. He is a player who everybody will remember though. For the record,I believe Robert Horry should be a hall of famer too lol

VC might have been a better overall player but for sure T-Mac was the better defender, he was taller and had the length advantage, he was a great shot blocker for his height and position
and there were times when VC was actually called out for his lack of defense, or at least his lack of effort on D

i just had a heated debate about this with a co-worker this morning.
i said no, he said yes.... and now i think im reconsidering.
his arguements were pretty strong... he's top 30 in the all time scoring list - potentially top 25 when his career is done. that speaks volumes, saying that a guy is all time top 25 in the most important statistic of that sport.
i came back with; he has no hardware - no rings, no mvps, etc.
he argued using current HOF members, Reggie Miller, Chris Mullen, Wilkens, etc... those guys didnt have any hardware - yet they are all HOFers.

i think when it comes down to it, VC squeeks in.

They should definitely retire his slam dunk competition performance... greatest ever. As for the HOF, he deserves to get in with the scoring he has done. Dude was the most electrifying player in the game even if for only a couple years.

Bosh pulled a few dick moves too... fulfilling contracts or being dishonest and making disrespectful comments after... it's the same shit dude. Bosh was sneakier but just as bad. Nobody should boo either anymore.

Not the same at all. I do hate some of the shit Bosh said once he left, but he was a pofessional while here which is more than i can see for VC. That being said i agree neither should be booed at this point. But hell they still booed T-Mac last season and it's been 12 years since he left, so i wouldn't hold my breath.

Bosh was the poster boy for Franchise Player until his last 3 months. Then he floated , waiting for his Miami move. And he is one of the better players these days. Overshadowed by two dorks that like to flaunt their team stacking. Bosh is a good guy from a small town. He doesnt fit in off the court with those knobbs.

If VC makes it into the hall, it will say more about the hall than VC. In other words, it will lessen it's value. There has to be more than one check mark beside a guys name.
