neither are hated by me anymore. moved on. who cares.

i recently left a company i worked 10 years for. made strong relationships and grew with that company. i left for a competitor b/c it was a great opportunity to accomplish a lot more in my career.

should i be boo'ed when i hang out with my old work friends on a friday night?

he made a basketball/business decision. one that he thought was best for himself. of course it hurt our growth as a franchise for a bit, but shouldn't we be able to look to our future by now? its been 3+ years.

move on. don't be one of those fans...

An excellent analogy that was used time & time again after Bosh left.

Still falls on deaf ears though.

People don't care enough about Bosh to hate him enough. The ultimate slight.

As for Vince, I think a few things have made some of the anger fade.

-he's older, not dominant anymore and can't stick daggers in us on the court anymore. He's uncle Vince now.

-we feel like we are starting to get a rudder now, build toward something, get on the map and become a destination someday....without him, so the sting of him leaving is not as strong.

-time passes....if you keep seeing some old girlfriend of yours who dumped you but each time she is more run down, at some point, you've gotta stop trying to prove something. There's not much satisfaction in it. It gets old. I'm seeing grown men still standing up booing lustily. It's sad and embarrassing.

-it really would actually be good to have some kind of legacy going forward. VC years where the biggest thing to happen and you can't erase them. We can either clean up our history and present it better like pretty much every history book in school does or pretend our legacy starts right now. (or 2015? 0r 2106?)

Nothing wrong with ignoring Vince... it's the "well let's let bygones be bygones and raise his jersey to the rafters!" stuff that makes me want to puke.

First Raptor ever to have his number retired and we want to do it for a guy who flat out QUIT on the team when he was in his prime?

not one player that we've ever had here has deserved to have their jersey retired. sad but true

Funny thing is I can't see them necessarily honouring his number in the rafters. Maybe some other act. But do think he has a shot at hall....as a Raptor. Then what do you do?

Why would he have a shot at the hall? What has he done? And why would he have to go in as Rap when he's played more than half his career elsewhere?

He probably wont have a shot at the hall, but i think Ammo was asking hypothetically.

If for some reason he did, he'd probably go in as a Raptor. He spent more seasons here than he did with any other team. And at the end of the day you have to choose one...

Meh. Spent 6 seasons + 20 games as a Rap....

... and 5 seasons and 50+ games as a Net.

Put up the same numbers in both places. If it ever gets to that let BKN retire his number. He's not even the Raps' all-time leading scorer anymore.

Respect your opinion. Sorry to say you're in the minority on that one.

Also, we're not talking about retiring jerseys. In this case we're talking HYPOTHETICALLY about what team VC reps going into the HOF.

So in that situation I'm pretty sure the majority of NBA and Raptors people would put $$ on him going in as a Raptor.

Bosh I have no problem with him leaving. He did trash the city and franchise after he left though (and sort of led the management team on with the idea he'd re-sign). Did you go back and trash your previous company and all your friends? Were a wolf trapped in a cage in your previous job? I have no problem with Bosh leaving, but he blew his chances at a fond memory in TO when he dragged the team through the mud after he left. If you behaved the way Bosh did, I doubt your friends go out to drinks with you, evn for the opportunity to boo you.

As for Vince, your analogy doesn't apply at all. If you dogged your way out of your contract at your previous job, leaving your friends in the lurch as you ruin the company from the inside out, then yes you deserve to be booed.

I would have a drink with Bosh. Who knows what could have happened if Collangelo didn't come along and ruin the culture that was being established.

Oh, there's plenty of blame to go around, and it's on BC that Bosh walked, but Bosh gets the blame for his own conduct.

What was the conduct exactly? He said some stupid things. I believe that his intentions were to make it work in Toronto all the way up until past the all-star break.

That's an extraordinarily naive point of view. But sure, even then he spouted off after signing in Miami. Saying stupid things is stupid.

At the all-star break we were the 5th seed in the EC just behind boston and one of the hottest teams in NBA the previous two months. If he changed his mind then, it was pretty much already made up imo. At that point in time should have been the most confident he would have ever been about staying.......yet it wasn't.
