Default The View from Section 307

The View from 307

I learned two things yesterday at the game. One. It's pretty easy to sneak in snacks if your sister-in-law wears a poofy skirt. Two. Sit with Fancylad during the warm-ups if you'd like to know who's going to win the game. More on that later.

Though I was expecting to meet a couple more of you cats, I must say that I don't think I could've watched a game as good as that with a cat as cool as Fancy. The banter alone was worth the price of admission, with Mangokid's AWOL status refreshingly relieved by Fancy's lovely wife Vanessa, who spent the afternoon dishing props to Solomon for his stellar play. Props Fancy and I begrudgingly agreed were valid for this afternoon, and this afternoon alone.

It had been seven years since my last game. My last one being the playoff game against the sixers were vince went for fifty. So, yeah, it was a great game to be there for, with Fancy and I, midway through the first quarter, wondering if maybe we had a bit of a blowout on our hands. Early foul trouble to Howard, though was the culprit more than anything, and low and behold, we had a four point game going into half. (Random thought during the game: Is it me, or has the amount of advertising at these events accelerated light years beyond ludicrous?")

I teetered on the edge of pessimism all day. Sensing this, Fancy leaned over and said,
"I'm predicting a win."
"Really?!?!", I said.
"Yup. You know how I know?"
"How?", I asked
"I watch the Raps warmup. I pick out two guys in particular, and if they hit all their shots during warmup, then we win."

With his eye on Bargs and Kapono, and neither of them missing a shot during the warm-up, Fancy's prediction looked pretty sound with five minutes to go in the fourth. With both of our other halfs collectively cringing with us everytime Moon hoisted one up, and wondering if Joey Crawford had missed his follow up at the Bocknar Eye Institute, a good chunk of 307 was tuned and glued to the action with two to go.

Up three with a minute to go, I throw a "WTF" at Fancy, wondering how in the hell people are heading for the exits. I kind of feel bewildered at people who could leave with such a great game hanging in the balance, and yet, somehow envious at their copious amount of confidence that this team would seal the deal. On any other day they might not have, but on this day they did. And it was a beautiful thing to stand and fist pump and share in the joy of victory with people as passionate about this team and this game and this franchise as me.

On to the pics...

Excellent post Cling.

Glad you had a good time. I made my up and saw a row of empty seats and thought you all bailed for lowerbowls.

I think we need another game of the three of us. I'll be in touch.

Ah ha.. Very nice write up Cling.

It was a pleasure to watch the raps with you and your extended family. It certainly was cool to enjoy the game with a group who exhibited the same "in stadium conduct" for lack of a better term and appreciated the same humorous observations.
This definately added to my Air Canada Centre experience.

Some additional "views from 307"...

I knew the game was in hand when we saw the lovely elderly couple decked out in their Bosh jerseys, dancing in the middle of the 307 aisle. Surely the good karma these two were giving off was making its way onto the court. The celebration after the Roko floater was probably the most fun i'd been part of at the ACC. Game on the line... and the most unexpected thing to happen... thanks for that Roko.

and for the record, it was Bargnani and Parker who were the players of my pre-game ritual.

Nice To see you still got skill Cling. For those unaware Cling and Dino Blogger went to College together. He was and is still it would seem a talented and funny guy. Also should mention what a great dude Raptor Man is as well.

I feel like I am at a strip club trying to remember stage names and real ones and not use the wrong ones lol.
