Victoria's Steve Nash to play in Vancouver NBA pre-season game

For my peeps on the West coast

I'm not the biggest Nash fan as he's like basketball Jesus here, but I wouldn't mind seeing this match-up...

Victoria's Steve Nash keen to play in Vancouver NBA pre-season game
By Ian Walker, Vancouver Sun July 29, 2009

VANCOUVER — Steve Nash and the Phoenix Suns may as well call Vancouver their home-away-from-home.

Phoenix will play its second pre-season game in the city in three years when the National Basketball Association team hosts the Portland Trail Blazers at GM Place on Thursday, Oct. 22.

“It's exciting to play another exhibition game,” said Nash, the two-time NBA most valuable player who recently signed a two-year $22 million US contract extension with the Suns. “It doesn't make up for playing the Grizzlies twice a year, but it goes a long way … allowing me the opportunity to play in front of friends and family that I don't get to play in front of very often.”

The Victoria native will highlight a game that will also feature veterans stars Grant Hill and Amare Stoudemire. The Blazers' roster, meanwhile, includes all-star guard and 2007 NBA rookie-of-the-year Brandon Roy along with a former first overall draft pick in centre Greg Oden.

Tickets for the game will go on sale on Saturday, Aug. 8 at 10 a.m., and are available through Ticketmaster.ca, charge-by-phone at 604-280-4400 and all Ticketmaster ticket centres. Tickets prices will range from $17 to $91 for bowl seats and a limited number of floor seats will be available, please inquire for availability and prices.

That's the court I'm always playing at behind him. Of course I play with adults, not kids as I'm sure some of you were about to bring up

If I can scrounge up enough $ for the ferry ride and hotel room in Vancouver. Just hope its played like a real game and not too lackadaisical for a pre-season game.
