Raptors Vecsey: Lowry looking for 10-12mil from the Raptors

If true, I'd be happy settling at around 11mil/yr. This is Peter Vecsey so I'd take this with a large grain of salt. Maybe a deal that starts at 10mil and ends at 12-13mil

I am told it'll take 10-12M per 4 TR 2 retain Lowry. Lakers should make strong play 4 him. Nash must 1st retire & open up cap xtra cap space

I wonder if these are the same sources that told him DeMar is a shitty team-mate.

Great realistic range. Run with it. I guess Lowry got the memo of being overpaid from Rudy

4/40 million with last 2 years being player options should be fair.

2 years of player options suck imo, in 1-1/2 years that could be all we here if he wants a trade or other teams make a play for him if he does well - then the same in year 3 and then again in year 4. I'd rather give him 4 with a team option for a 5th. 1 great year shouldn't give Lowry that level of power that a Wade, LBJ, etc have over their teams.

EDIT: And if it doesn't work the team can trade him in the 3rd year giving a team that 4th year to work with, or the Raps can trade him as an expiring in year 4. If it doesn't work and he's traded in year 3 then the other team would have the same option of trading in year 4 as an expiring. For some reason this way would keep the team in the driver's seat with the asset and not the other way around.

IIRC Masai has a history of not giving player options at all so I don't think he'd give one to Lowry.

i only meant to include a player option to lower overall salary. that extra 3 million per year could be used to get someone else.

also he can leverage all he wants, the balls in his court. their appears to be numerous suitors for him.

I don't think Masai, or anyone for that matter would give him a hard time about 12 mil. If he plays like last year then he deserves it.

Doug Smith thinks all he'll get is 3yrs/27mil.

his reaction to the money he gets should be funny.

9 Per? What a noob.

If Lowry made that final shot in game 7 then he probably could have made up to 15/per on a shorter deal (2+PO).

Yup!

He told McCowan that 3/yrs 27mil with the first year starting at 8mil should get him signed. LOL

Honestly, sometimes I wonder how he got his job.

He immediately upped it to 30 million over 3 years. Of course jeff loves to ignore that for the purposes of proving that he as a bot is far superior.

I was going to reply with, "I think we can take Orlando off the list as with the 4th pick they can now comfortable take Exum - lucky bastards - I just like that kid, 6'6" guard - just sweet. Exum/Oladipo/Harris/O'Quinn/Vucevic - would free up Afflalo to trade to upgrade the PF spot".

Then I had a thought, what if Orlando packages Nelson/Afflalo/picks #4 and #12 for Love and #13 - think that would entice Minny? Then Orlando can attempt to sign KL for 4/48 - similar to Lawson. Then the Magic could potentially have a line-up of Lowry/Oladipo/Harris/Love/Vucevic and then use the #13 for Payton, (even if they don't get the #13, still nice as they would still have cap room for upgrades). Would that entice Love?

I don't think they're trading love, what Portland did this season will probably convince them to try another year. Remember when aldridge was asking for a trade last summer?

I'd be happy with a 4 yr deal between 10-12 mil per yr. Hopefully it doesn't go up much higher than that.
