VC: Raptors wanted Bosh to be the centerpiece

Interesting piece.

Quote:
"Chris came in as a rookie, seeing him being a young excited guy, he was an ACC guy so I took to him and he deserved being the feature guy here. He did. It was just the way things worked out as that. He was developing, young, up-and-coming and you can see who he is now. They wanted him to grow and flourish and I understood that. There were never any bad feelings toward the organization or him. It's a business decision and that's the way it goes sometimes. I get it. I think the fans sometimes, may not understand that but it kind of came off as I didn't want to be here. That's not what it was. It was moving in different directions. At some point, people will see that. It worked out. I was able to go somewhere else and do what I needed to do and Chris was able to grow, flourish and become a perennial all-star."
Quote:
"I don't know. I think it takes for people to understand what it's all about, what actually happened. They look at me as the person that hates Toronto, and I love Toronto to death. I don't know. [As someone] who didn't want to be here. It wasn't that, they were just moving in another direction and they felt Chris Bosh was the way they wanted to go. I was like, 'Hey I understand that.' I didn't want to be a problem in the locker room, which I guess everybody thought that I would be. No, I was encouraging him and kind of helping him learn what it takes to handle himself on and off of the court as the go-to guy, as the marquee name and I think it's really helped him today."

What a nice bit of B.S.

Why the hell would Toronto management have pushed out an all-star and an Olympian for a ROOKIE? That may have been true near the end.... but only because Vince was absolutely dogging it and clearly didn't give a shit about the team at all.

"Encouraging him and helping him"??

By doing what? Showing him how to half-ass it and smile through losses?

Getting VC was the 2nd best thing to happen to this franchise.

Getting rid of him was the best thing.

Yes, look at all the success the Raptors have had since getting rid of him:

.447 regular season record
3-8 in the playoffs, including a series loss to Vince's team

Thank you TO.

It is such a load of bullshit it's not even funny.

And question to Raptorized Christian... why even bring up winning and losing records? That's not the point behind this topic.

Is it not just boring? Maybe the sheer stupidity of it makes it less so.

When Vince left he got to do what he had to do as a guy that was not necessarily the first option all the time, and he said he was really happy about that, but apparently that was something that was just impossible here.

Vince needed to be treated like his shit didn't stink the entire time he was here. When the team started to move away from the culture of Vince worship, and indulging his every whim, things changed. Period. That doesn't make Vince the bad guy necessarily either. He never should have been indulged so much to begin with.

It is truly boring. However, the fawning over Vince is much more annoying (and misguided) than anything.

It IS an old topic that's been beaten to death and it needs to go away, but at the same time all this talk of Vince's greatness in Toronto and the idea of actually honouring (puke) the man for his time here is so incredibly just plain wrong.

he dogged it. he flat out dogged it. who cares what the reason was. if you get paid well and don't try hard you're not going to be well liked. the rest of this is just window dressing.

....So I was unhappy and absolutely quit on the team, asked for a trade and tied the hands of the franchise for years to come. The odd time I would tell the other team plays, or fake a few injuries....but it was all good , I love the city and they wanted Bosh to be the star....so I quit.

I talked with a guy who used to play for the Brock Badgers when they had their training camp here in '04. They were allowed in the gym and he said Vince wouldn't even participate, he sat on a stationary bike in the corner of the gym with his head down every day.

Watching this guy play was great when he did but i will forever want this guy hit with a bat. The day i seen him say he didn't want to dunk anymore almost made me have a stroke

Those comments are B.S. damage control. If Vince really felt that way then he would have went out, played hard and kept his mouth shut in the media. Eventually that year the right trade would have came along and the Raptors could have got a far better deal for Carter. How he acted was selfish, not selfless.

That explains everything. It's also Vince's fault that Bosh has been such a puss-puss.

Telling someone to "Say that to his face" is truly a pathetic response.

Because with a video, he risks having Vince get on his ass and hunt him down?

Get off the pot...
