And he's been pretty good for two playoff games in a row now.

It will be very interesting to see the make up of this team going forward. Is vasquez a central piece with or without an extended lowry? He is definitely making his case in this playoff series

GV has shown he can play alongside another PG effectively, and move from playing a PG/SG. He has been really important for our push late in the season, and the last two games. His defensive is suspect, but he brings a lot to the table. His personality is a big plus for this team, and he has the swagger to make big plays when we need it. I would be really disappointed if we cant keep him long term and it's not just because he loves it here. GV/Lowry combo has been the most effective PG tandem we've had collaboratively, I believe, in terms of production and especially defined roles.

If we're able to keep Kyle, we need to keep Vasquez too, as he's the ideal fit as the backup, and he helps enable Kyle to stay healthy because Kyle is able to play off of the ball and not have to carry the load at PG for the entire game.

I'll be the first to admit I was a huge Vasquez hater when he first came here, but he's grown up a lot, and his game has really improved since his first game here. His 3 point shooting is a legit threat for teams to scout against now, and his pick and roll play is very solid. The only issue is his defence, but we can hide him unless the other team has 3 amazing backcourt guys.

I am also intrigued by De Colo. Keep all three please. Then get rid of Stone/Buycks/Salmons and bring in a veteran wing + veteran Center.

Keeping all 3 makes sense unless a) Vasquez gets a big offer from someone or b) the Raps grab a PG in the draft. Either we end up Lowry-Vasquez-de Colo, Lowry-GV-pick, or Lowry-de Colo-pick/Stone. I'd be shocked if we had a brand new backup PG next season.

I'd only keep De Colo at the minimum, and I dont see another team giving him more than that, so he should be staying. His game doesn't impress me, and I dont think he'll ever be more than a spot minutes player.

also, defense is not as critical for a backup PG, as he's not going to face major offensive weapons most nights.

Yep. Though that's a pretty safe bet at this point.

Well, based on what happened with with Bosh, I'll believe it when I see it.
Lowry is going to draw plenty of interest around the league during the summer.
Also, let's not forget how MU inked Nene and then shipped him to Washington, no one really saw that coming. I think you are a bit over confident thinking Lowry is ours for the next few seasons.

No, I'm assuming he's ours come the fall. Ujiri's history with Nene in particular highlights that he'd rather overpay to keep a player and then look to move them if need be. Lowry's bounced around the league a lot, and the Raps can offer just as much as other teams, as well as stability no one else can offer. And I think the market's going to be pretty light for Lowry - he still has a reputation around the league (note the lack of all-star votes), and there aren't many teams in need of a PG and with cap space this summer. The only way I don't see Lowry back is if Ujiri won't match other bids for his services - which like I said seems very unlikely based on MU's history.

Signing Lowry was a sure thing as soon as Masai said fuck Brooklyn. Not really, but i'm sure it didn't hurt. The whole defining of the team as a band of outsiders is brilliant. This is something to be a part of, and in a way that suits Kyle's personality perfectly.

Vasquez is a borderline starting PG so having him as the backup is a blessing.
Since Lowry has proven himself to basically be an all-star PG, we now have 1 of the best PG combos. I don't think there will be a controversy because Lowry has proven he is superior and their styles actually allow them to be on the court at the same time effectively. Each of them has the ability to be either the PG or the SG. Vasquez is also getting sufficient minutes so he has nothing to complain about in terms of playing. I think he also accepts the role he will have in the NBA as a bench player.
