Oh, so it was. Well he just became my least favorite raptor. At least turkoglu denied his party life, this guy is proud of doing this night before a game?

Greivis Vasquez NBA & ABA Stats | Basketball-Reference.com

Vasquez rocking a horrible -0.002 WS/48 minutes with the raps this season. Now, people may understand why so many of believe the raps will get 7-11th if GV has to start in place of KL if he goes down for a while.

Vasquez would have to be mind-numbingly bad.... like worst in NBA history bad.... for him to singlehandedly derail our team like that.

GV playing the point wouldn't erase the growth of Ross and JV... or the solid play of DD and Amir.... or the bench play of PP and Salmons.

And again.... too small a sample size to really judge. Until we see GV play 30 min with this squad there's no telling what he's capable of.

meh, vasquez was pretty bad lately, but he's still a massive upgrade over augustin/buycks
and salmons and patterson have been great for us. The three of them + tyler give us a more than decent bench, especially when patterson is on fire like he's been lately ...

Yes it is a small sample size and he would likely improve from anywhere from 0.30 WS/48 mins to 0.90WS48 mins, the raps would be replacing their best player with a reserve and then GV's reserve would be an obvious downgrade. 11th may be a little harsh but that's probably the lowest it would be. However 7th to 8th isn't impossible. Not to mention how horrid it would be to watch DD and GV on d.

These guys ae all NBA players, you're nuts if you don't think they party. I agree the night before a game is a little iffy, though.

When I started this thread GV was going trough a slump, with terrible numbers in his last games (I thought), well if those were terrible numbers, his contribution in the most recent games is just abysmal. he basically had his two worst ever NBA games in the last two games. Against Miami, he played the lesser amount of minutes he has play in the NBA (10.4), and that was enough for him to have a significantly negative impact in the output of the game.

Even though Lowry did not mentioned Vasquez, he pointed out after the game that the beginning of the four quarter was the key for the loss. And that the slow transition, and slow paste in the ball handling were the difference. I think that Casey is loosing a lot of his confidence in Vasquez, and also think that the level he has shown so far may be making the front office more reluctant to trade Lowry before the dead line.

At the end of last season, it was assumed that if Vasquez back up his number this season, he would be signing a deal for 3 years or so for between 5 and 6 million a year at some point, right now, if he gets a 3 million one year offer should take it a run.

Now this is a bit surprising, this came out today in an article about NBA FIT week
Toronto Raptors' Greivis Vasquez and other NBA stars team up to promote Healthy Living for 'NBA Fit Week'- #NBAFit

"Greivis Vasquez has made an immediate impact with the Toronto Raptors since he joined the team as a part of the early December trade with the Sacramento Kings. He has provided stellar play as a backup point guard for the Raptors in key stretches during the Raptors' current on-court success.

In 12 games with the Raptors, Vasquez is averaging 7 points, 3 assists, and 2 rebounds in 16 minutes per game, while helping the Raptors to a 9-3 record in those 12 games.
"

Now I am guessing this people basically took the team record and GV's stats in the last 12 games and made a connection without actually watching any of the games?

The pg position is a strange animal. So much is dependent on the right circumstances, and what they are able to buy into, or not. I think Buycks is probably the better fit for playing 11 minutes per game, and maybe there will be some takers for Vasquez.

He could be a good trade chip - cheaper than Lowry and maybe better suited to a backup role.

And I'd certainly be less sad to see him go. I liked both Buycks and Stone better than I've liked Vasquez, although that's possibly due to my expectation level for each.

The way I feel about him,if he plays well keep him in the off season. If not then don't extend the QO for him.

I hope he can fit in but right now he's having a hard time adapting to another system.

I think it has to do more with confidence than adapting to a new system. When you think about it, he is playing a lot with PP and Salmons, who he knows well. I also think he is stuck in a bit of a vicious circle, where he needs to play extended minutes to get his mojo back, but because he is getting limited minutes, he is not getting there, and therefore getting less and less minutes.

He's done some nice things offensively so far, unfortunately easy basket he has set up he's given an easy one right back on the defensive end.

I don't know what nice things are you talking about. Dude is playing like garbage, he should be in the very end of the bench.
