Raptors Valanciunas MVP

Lithuania Claims Gold Valanciunas Wins Tournament MVP - RealGM Wiretap

Looking at the stats, they're pretty good. I know he's dominating kids right now, but at least he's overkilling them than not playing up to standards. Seems like a good pick now

Jonas was a beast. I'm happy for him and Lithuania!

Best of luck to Lithuania in the Eurobasket.

How about the fact that he played every minute of the game without subbing out. Conditioning must be good.

Nice to see. Going to be fun to watch in a Raptors uniform in 2012/2013.

the potential is there and i can legitimately see him being a 15/10/1.5 guy in the league at his peak but he is not NBA ready now nor will he be in 2012/2013.

My prediction - JV wins rookie of the year in the NBA...which will be a feat in 2012/13

Raptors lottery pick Jonas Valanciunas carried Lithuania over Serbia 85-67 at the FIBA U19 World Championships in Latvia, scoring 36 points, adding eight rebounds, three blocks and three steals.

Valanciunas has now led his country to the gold medal at the European U16 and U18 tournaments and now, the world U19, earning tournament MVP each time, believed to be an unprecedented feat.

He led this event in scoring (23 per game), rebounding (13.9), blocks (3.2), double-doubles (seven in nine games for 7-2 Lithuania) and was second in field goal percentage to Canada’s Dyshawn Pierre.

As much as I'm hyped about JV (I think I might be too hyped, I'll probably be let down) I think Bismack would of done better in the tourney, at the very least on D. He'd of probably averaged like 4-5 blocks a game. Too bad there isn't a Congo team...

some G.M's rated Jonas the best prospect in the draft,

i'm pretty sure Biyombo isn't rated by any GM in the NBA as the best prospect

that shows that Jonas was the right selection and best available player on the board

i'm not saying Biyombo will be a bad player and could end being better player, its just right now we have the best available player in the draft

I also think its the right decision to make, considering it was a over rated PG draft,

with Jonas Valanciunas siting for a year, and another young roster with developing players like, Demar and Davis, with Bargnani a year or two away from his prime years, we could very much see another high draft pick

which in turn next years draft has a couple of great PGs, another need we all thought we need

so in back to back year BC could have fixed two of our holes, a defensive center and a pg, especially with a shortened year in a lockout year, Raptors might finally be done adding young pieces, and just focus on developing and adding vets

Bismack was rated lower because of retarded speculation about his age. Pretty much everyone said that his potential is greater than anyone in this draft. Bismack is ~250LB and is much more explosive and athletic than Jonas. With Jonas bulking up he's going to get even less athletic and explosive. It's going to be interesting to see what happens. I think Bismack is going to be a better player in a couple years (if the Bobcats don't fuck up his development) than Jonas.

Great to see that JV has a great motor and that's what we want in a center ... having him play in europe for another year is actually a blessing. Lets get anther high draft pick on a shorten season ..
