I think if healthy last season he would have been good for us. Too bad he got hurt during the exhibition games and never recovered.

I just hope the Raptors coach/fans will give him a chance to come back as a starter and prove his worth.

As a starter? That's doubtful. He'd have to come back off the bench and play limited minutes at first considering this injury is gonna take 10-12 months for him to recover. It'll take him a while to get back into game shape. Maybe after a while, if he impresses he can be the starter but he'll have to steal that from someone.

Very good sign for the newest member of our team to be playing at such a high level in his age category. This has me excited, for sure!

2012-2013 will be perfect for him to come over - he's getting his seasoning overseas. For those worrying about him not being "NBA ready" in summer 2012 - this guy already has way more experience than past busts like Darko and Tsikishvili.

Is he going to play in EuroBasket 2011 for sure? He is only listed as a candidate player on the wiki page (LINK).

I only watched two U19 games. It was good to see him play, but I was underwhelmed with the teenage competition. It will be more interesting for me to see what he looks like playing against full grown men.

JV seems to have a well rounded game and I'm tired of one-dimensional Raptors so I'm glad the Raps chose him over Biyombo.

I want in on that, Bismack may become a very good defensive player but with no offense. He won't come close to the two way player JV is (who will only get better)

He's been playing against full grown men for 2 years, and looked pretty good.

There is no way you can say that. He's 18 and there was that report that said that he has offensive skill but doesn't have the fundamentals. If they develop him right he can easily get better on O. It's not like JV is going to be a amazing offensive player either. His main thing is pick and roll and Bismack is great at that...

Thats a lot of 'if's'. JV has had years developing fundamentals and thats big. JV has shown much much more. CAN Bismack learn, maybe, but reality is he's years away

Jonas V isn't amazing on O either and we don't really need O. Bismack has intangible and physical abilities you can't teach.

Does anyone know if Bismack is going to be playing in the Fiba mens tourney?

+1 mate. biyombo might end up being a better defender than val and do some impressive things like bpg and some big time dunks with his explossiveness but i'd rather have an all-round game where the D is good and the O is pretty good. Even if biyombo is doing great things on D he's gonna piss off their fans with his O!

What do you mean he isn't amazing on offense.
I know it was against 19 year olds, but he led the WORLD championship in several very important statistics

1st in Scoring (23ppg)
2nd in Field-Goal percentage at almost 60%
(that's offense for you)

Also,
1st in Rebounding (13.9rpg)
1st in Blocks (3.2bpg)

Had 7 double-doubles in 9 games and was also scoring 100% from 3pt range (1/1)

He might not do super explosive dunks and stuff, but neither did Olajuwon or Tim Duncan

It's suspicious that many people never even heard of Biyombo until several months before the draft. I think that he's really overrated. He barely played for a relatively unknown Fuenlabrada team. I think with Jonas you pretty much know what you're getting but with Biyombo you're essentially rolling the dice because of his "athleticism." We can only see how he fares in the NBA when he plays his first few games but I really see him as one of the lottery pick busts.

And yea his offense is very mediocre. His workout was worst than Motiejunas':
