Jonas. Talented centers are too hard to find nowadays. Looks like he is a beast offensively AND defensively.

We are jam-packed with PF's atm.

Without repeating all Valanciunas' trophies and awards (look it up on wikipedia); it's fair to say that he has been very successful upto now in his career.
He has won championships and individual awards with his club (Lietuvos Rytas) , and his National team (Lithuania). But more importantly, a lot of his success has been, as a teenager, playing against fully professional, fully grown men.
Anthony Davis appears to be a great talent, but all his success, so far, has been against schoolboys and college kids ......... to my knowledge, he has yet to dominate any games against professionals.
Therefore I give the edge to JV.

Living in England, we get very little basketball coverage. The only way is through satellite subscription channels.

Sky Sports show a weekly magazine programme, highlighting all the news and action from around the globe. Another channel, Eurosport, show live and recorded games from around Europe; domestic leagues, EuroLeague, EuroCup, and International tournaments.

It was through these channels that I saw JV playing for Lietuvos Rytas and Lithuania, and I was most impressed with his play, and became a fan.

I have family who live in the Toronto area, and therefore I support the Jays, Leafs and Raptors; so I was delighted when the Raptors drafted a player that I already admired.

Although I support the Toronto teams, I am a proud Englishman (and European), so I've always rooted for the European players in the North American leagues; obviously the likes of Bargnani and Sundin; but also those that don't play for a Toronto franchise such as Forsberg, Jagr, Ovechkin, Kukoc, and Nowitzki.

The thing that makes JV different to the likes of Bargnani, is that I spotted him and became an admirer before he got drafted, when he was a "nobody" if you like, so that makes my connection with him a little more special ............... it would have been the same if we'd drafted Rubio, who I spotted playing for Barcelona years ago.

Excellent account!

In case noone has bothered to do it until now - welcome to the board. With JV coming over and some serious cap space, next season promises to be much more exciting - perhaps even exciting enough to justify you purchasing League Pass to follow the Raps.

Thanks for the welcome.

Until the recession hit a couple of years ago; we used to get live NFL, MLB, NBA and NHL games on free-to-air tv ......... then the tv channels decided that the cost was too great, so we only now get the Monday Night NFL game free on terrestrial tv .......... everything else is through satellite subscription or the internet.

4:30 Mountain time, so 6:30 in Toronto?
I set it to record as I will be at work, but I will watch it for sure after coming back home.

What I like about JV's game - at least from what I've read and seen - is that the guy has a serious motor. Yes, he may be a little lanky going into his rookie season, but if the guy is constantly hustling and looking to make a play, he's going to be useful. And the combination of that and his FT shooting should make him at least a little bit serviceable on the offensive end until he can improve.

It's rare that a player as big as JV gets billed as a high-energy guy with talent and workmanlike mentality. I obviously have a biased opinion, but it seems like even if he plays below expectations, he can be a decent big man off the bench.
for some reason i read woman-like
