Bosh might not be a centerpiece, but he's a tremendous player and you'd have to be really stocked up in the frontcourt not to want it.
Pretty much this. ^^^

Just to be clear my initial responses in this thread were addressing posters who said "we don't need another Chris Bosh" and "I think that he was overrated and his stats were inflated".

It's silly NOT to want a player of his calibre, esp. given how crappy our team was last year.

What we SHOULD be saying is "I hope that BC builds us a team that isn't reliant on a single star and can actually play some defense."

ok, how do i make this easier to understand. we DON"T NEED another chris bosh! emphasis on NEED. it is totally not the same as cleveland NEEDS lebron james

its like, if you had an option of adding a say, david west would you?
1) it doesn't fit the direction this team is going
2) it would make us a better team, but we'd still going no where. so why do it?

also to rephrase, we don't need another chris Bosh was the reply to this thread topic that says Val is being compared to chris bosh. we're trying to change the culture of this team, bringing in a new coach et al. we all want our C to be a defensive anchor in the paint and operate primarily in the low post or anywhere elbow and in on offense. NOT face up and take jumpers all game long.

It's funny, panda and torrap, you're both right and yet you're in two different conversations with eachother!

Would I add David West? No.... because he's not nearly as good or as consistent as Bosh.

Sometimes I wonder if you watched his last season here with us at all. He basically had the same season (crazy first half, petered out a bit in the 2nd) that Amare had this past season and people were DROOLING over Amare calling him an MVP candidate.

There's still a lot of "dead money" tied into this team. Lord knows I'd have given away Bargs and Jose for Bosh in a heartbeat if given the chance.

You're right though... unless the REST of the team improves, it's a waste of talent.

Why would Val (a C) be compared to Bosh (a PF)? That's silly.... ideally based on what I've been hearing Val probably would have been the ideal running mate for a player like Bosh, rather than Mr. "Hi I only want to shoot 3s and am allergic to rebounds" Bargnani.

I am in full agreement that we need a defensive C.

I've been saying that for YEARS.

The spot has nothing to do with Bosh though... never has really.

I disagree.... West is the same tier as Bosh.

Bosh's last year wasn't as impressive as you remember it. It was good though.... but he did grind down and failed to get his team to the playoffs. The difference was that Amare came into a dreadful situation and rejuvenated that team in less than a season which made his MVP cheers much more justified.

Meh. West has only avgd 20+ pts/gm twice in his career and has NEVER avgd 10+ rebs/gm. Bosh is also far better off the dribble. I'm not getting drawn into a long debate about that though so if you like West better than that's fine. I don't think many coaches/GMs would agree with you though.

Did Bosh fail to get his team there? Or did his team fail him? Because I distinctly remember him coming back from his ankle injury and leading us to wins before his face got broken and the team just wilted without him.

Amare definitely played well and was a huge part of NYK's success, but you're discounting Felton and Fields' (and Chandler and Gallo's) stellar play. For the first time in years they were finally out of cap hell and had some good young assets on the team. That made a hell of a difference too.

Amare was ground down in the second half of the season as well.

And I guess we can just give up on moving on. Maybe we should try movin' on up, to the east side...
