This is fucking ridiculous if happens... But Dougie thinks Amir may start and JV sit and no change for Bargs who will remain a starter.

I've had it with Casey.... We SUCK, I'd rather see Ross and JV and ED start and see how we do and develop them further...

Change coming?

Just doing some tea leaf reading and no one has suggested this anywhere near the record, on or off, but I don’t think it would be a surprise if you saw Amir Johnson starting and Jonas Valanciunas coming off the bench. Maybe as early as Friday.

Now, please, for the love all that’s good in the world, do not take this as some huge slight at Valanciunas, he is still good and going to very good and he is not personally to blame for what’s going on. And even the harshest critics would admit he’s had a lot of quite good games for a kid 19 games into his career.

But he’s also learning and maybe it’s easier to learn against second unit guys now.

I still think it was right to start him from the beginning to see what he had and to throw him right into the fire; some nights it worked, some nights it didn’t.

But they are at a crucial juncture of the season and I think maybe it wouldn’t be that bad an idea.

It might be tough for Dwane to sell to his bosses but that’s part of the job. It’s not like Valanciunas won’t still get his 25 or 28 minutes or whatever it is, they’ll just come later in the game.

And it’s certainly not a done deal but I think it’s something they should consider.

-

But why not the other guy?

Oh, you mean Andrea?

Two reasons:

Whether you like it or not, they need his offence, or at least the threat of it, out there as much as possible.

You may not believe it and, yes, he’s had some dreadful shooting nights, but teams do pay major attention to him, still.

It should have been no surprise to any basketball person that Kyle Lowry benefited greatly from Bargnani’s mere presence on the court late in that Sacramento game.

Dwane even mentioned it when the discussion got around to Ed Davis’s role in the Kings game.

“We needed spacing for Kyle to get to the bucket; Andrea would space the floor for us. Eddie would have been our next option but with (Bargnani’s) three-point shooting, it would space the floor for Kyle to get into the paint because he had it going.”

Tell me that doesn’t make sense. You can’t.

And, if you want your second unit to provide some energy – and all good teams do – I don’t see how Bargnani coming off the bench does that. It doesn’t.

And the next time he goes for 25 or 30, you’ll agree. For a night at least.

they're just trying to take a bit of pressure off JV... makes sense. He's struggling a bit.

JV is taking the blame for the Floor-Spreader. We need that 32% shooting from the Floor-Spreader or else our team won't do shit.

Only the Raptors would throw the future of the franchise under the bus for the Floor-Spreader.

I wonder if Spreading the Floor is one of those advanced stats that the Raptors track to justify Bargnani playing anything but garbage minutes?

I think this is just Doug's idea of "shaking shit up".

If this happens then at least there's a chance I might see some beautiful Jose/JV pick-n-rolls that I imagined all summer.

I've been noticing this more and more.. why the hell is he using Bargs as a 3 point shooter? Bargs was never a consistent threat out there. His game is at the high post, and down low against shorter dudes..

Wow...I guess we should expect to hear Acy waived and Ross sent to the D-League soon...this is becoming a joke

This in my mind would be the last straw. Every fan should boo Casey every time his name is mentioned in the openings.

Right from the article, that's why Casey puts Bargnani at the 3 point line. He's been doing it all year, and it's backfired for the most part, as Bargnani's 3 point shooting has been declining over the years. Yes it did help Lowry get to the bucket with the spacing, but they should put him low post, similar to last year.

So Casey loves using Bargnani and doesn't even make proper use of the guy.

it's fine guys... he is a rookie, and he aint getting help from Bargs anyway when he is jacking shots from the outside while Val is the only big in there looking to rebound.

he can come in and play with the second unit, get more touches and less fouls
4-15.. at this point does it even matter if he starts or not, he started all year...

They can get offense from Bargnani off the bench. This notion that Bargnani can only score while starting is fucking ridiculous. Give him 25min off the bench.

Last night our starting PG/SG/SF combined for 69pts/14asts/16reb. Not saying we'll get that every night, but if Davis starts and gets 10pts/9reb in 30min is that so bad. Especially when Bargnani can give us 15ppg off the bench? Our bench is pretty bad unless Amir is hitting 18ft jumpers or Jose takes more than his usual 4 shots. Adding Bargnani to the bench gives us a more balanced attack.

Taking Valanciunas out of the starting lineup is just plain stupid!

I think they (i.e. Casey) are pretending to think highly of Andrea. Just can't lower his trade value any more than it already is.

+1

and let Bargs take more 3's
i dont think Raptors will go anywhere when Bargs is around
the only way this team will improve is if they trade Bargs and it seems like this will not be happening soon anyway

If you want to keep his trade value from going down even further... he needs to get benched!
