At least he won't be hack a shaq'd

Friendly games count? If so the real challenge will be later this week against Russia and Spain.

Perhaps what is more important is that he solidified his spot on the NT. It's very unlikely that Petravicius or both of the twins stay over him. I can also see Delinkaitis being cut.

zxcvbn193 08-08-2011 09:43 PM

And as always let's do not forget that one of the players can get injured anytime anyplace. So I think it's to early to predict something as there are many games coming our way.

rapsmannn 08-08-2011 10:49 PM

wow

don't know what this means when it comes to the nba but his physical gifts are shocking, you wonder if he was in the ncaa how easily he would have dominated considering he is playing against grown men now

if you can dream of player that can get bargs going are even playing a little harder it would be this guy

if this guy is going balls to the walls bargs can't coast otherwise on the offense jonas will get more touches because he plays defense well and can finish,

he's already better than bargs, davis, and amir put together

i'm the biggest bargs homer, and let him skate along because of his scoring and his talent does give him a pass in other areas, but if things don't change when it comes to rebounding and playing with effort, then i won't be dissapointed if he gets dealt after this season

but i do have to say these two players are polar opposites and could see them playing off each other perfectly, and bargs does fit well with derozan who cant and never will shoot 3s, so at least bargs brings that threat which is under rated when it comes to open up the floor

remember last year we had the second youngest roster in the league, i never heard of a successful young team, it takes time, this team is different from the rebuilding teams of hte past where we virtually had nothing, like last time we only had bosh for three years until bargs came around

now we got a young core group and tradeable players

There was weak team, so we need to wait when Lithuania play against Russia or Spain. Valanciunas vs Mozgov or Pau Gasol maybe.

woah. woah. I think you're getting wayyyy ahead of yourself with some of those statements. I agree that JV has followed up his drafting with some impressive and optimistic showings, but doing well against the Czech Republic in a friendly doesn't amount to a whole lot. Other than that kid who made out with his girlfriend in the last draft, do they even have an NBA quality player on their roster? I would think any NBA regular would do well against the Czechs without too much difficulty.

MARTYNAS 08-09-2011 08:25 AM

IF he puts his ordinary 8/6 agaisnt Spain, it would be great.

Czech Republic was a weak opponent. Now they not even in FIBA division A!!!!! Their best known player in the last decade was Jiř Welsch... Best in todays squad, veteran Luboš Bartoň. Nothing fancy.... And they definitely has no NBA talent.
In the other hand, Jonas still was the best man on the floor... He played only against Czechs, but just the rest of them. I mean all Lithuanians played against Czech republic, but no one dominated. Jonas with some good signs, considering it was a week draft, he looks more than decent. If draft was today, he may be a top pick, at least Givony thinks that way.

Superjudge 08-09-2011 09:13 AM

He just dropped 26 and 11.

WTF more does he need to do?

It was against a third tier team. He SHOULD be dropping 26 and 11 against way inferior opposition.

So, why didn't the rest of his team drop 26 and 11 on them? Aren't they the more experienced players, with no question of being cut, and he the young guy just trying to make the team?

It will show more when he plays against better competition, but dropping 26 and 11 should in no way be 'expected.'

fancylad 08-09-2011 09:42 AM

It's true... i can't argue with that Dan.

Like i said i am impressed with Jonas. From what i am learning about him in this short time, i guess i am now holding him to a higher standard. probably shouldn't though.

Seriously... if this isn't premature, over the top and overating a player I don't know what is. Slow down on the kool-aid.

Love to hear this kind of news. Solidifies the pick a little more.

Thanks Dan.

I think the obvious point is that 3 weeks ago people here were wondering if he could crack the roster, let alone play.

Um. Ya.

slow down dude....i disagree with most of your points but this one has to be the most out there.
demar just finished his 2nd year and made a huge jump that no one could of expected in the process and your ready to write him off?!
that is a ridiculously short leash you have for demar considering your leniency for bargnani....:dead:

Šarūnas Jasikevičius - ''Our pick and roll duo with Jonas may won't work so effective next time. I respect Czech Republic team, but they lack talent and awareness. Players were sagged off on me, when I called pick and rolls and used screens. I had plenty of time and a lot of space just to stop, look around and think what to do next. Thats why everything went smoothly.''

Why not, he's a high quality prospect. In fact, as high a prospect that there was in the draft, up there with Irving.
