Seems he is exactly what we are looking for. An offensive rebounding BIg. With some great potential. Ed Davis seems better served as a power forward.

One thing that worries me is that his current team Lietuvos rytas is not in Euroleague because they didn't become lithuanian champions. They still have a chance though, because they will be compeating in the qualifying turnament. But having in mind that this club has some serious financial problems i have hopes that they will let Valanciunas go to the nba now.

& I don't think were going to trade Bargs...I really think from the sound of it that Bargs gets one more season to get his full game together & if it's not enough then we trade him.

As far as Jose goes I think he will start coming off the bench shortly after the season starts or he gets traded, if there is a season

What connects them is BC's rhetoric. The same language he used to justify the barg pick is what he's using now..it's like de ja vu. JV's game is probably closer to ED than barg, but we don't know what ED would have done in the euro league or what JV would have done in the NCAA the only thing we know is what JV and barg did in the euro league and if JV's game translates the same way we're in trouble. Although they have different skill sets, the same braintrust/scouts did the evaluation for barg and JV. Do you think they did a good job of evaluating barg's talent??? Maybe the Raps NCAA scouts are better than their euro scouts???? I'm not saying that there is not a euro star out there, but do you trust the Raptors to uncover him, especially after the barg fiasco.

Do you realy think that Raptors scouts ''uncovered'' him?

I don't share your viewpoint. By that token the same connection could be and should be made between Jonas and Ed Davis as you yourself have alluded to. You're basically writing the guy because he's a white kid from Europe well because we had another white kid from Europe who didn't deliver what you had hoped. Look some picks work out and some don't. Conlangelo himself states that he expected more out of Bargnani, so it's not like he's happy with the progress made. Shit happens. Some guys don't develop.

However, ONE other guy does not make a big enough sample size to draw any kind of conclusion. That's all we're talking about here. ONE other guy. Bargnani is his own person and has no impact on how JV will perform.

And actually i think our scouts did a good job evaluating bargs' talent. he is a hell of a talent. Just not a great competitor. but from a talent point of view, there are few like him.

meh.. as far as I know, only Howard averaged more at the center spot last year. Bargnani could be WAY worse.

Not always, but guess what, all too often those "ignorant fans" are right, but you're right only time will tell. I guess the weather man shouldn't voice his opinions either? Nobody is right all the time, but we all have a right to voice our opinions based on decades of watching the NBA.

He and Ed Davis need to be workout buddies.

Nothing to be worried about, though. He'll start to build muscle with age.

it has nothing to do with his skin colour all I'm saying is its apples to apples and although 1 is no sample size that's all we've got. but your right, stuff happens, but I still think TRUE TALENT has many dimensions (ie Dirk).

About the "soft euro" comment there's not much to be said, it's just like cars, Americans want powerfull heavy V8, doesn't matter if a car doesn't handle at all, they create new races for it!
So half of NBA plays are travelling or charges, but who cares, it's more spectacular!
good analogy.
