He servers as a good counter-punch to raptors123.

Where did all this Gasol talk come from? Is it an "official" rumour? Or Bleacher Report material??

It's been out there for over a year, more of a rumor. Doubt it goes anywhere but the Lakers have legit interest in Calderon since their backups are all terrible. Not sure they have interest in Bargnani though, but i have a feeling that D'Antoni would like Bargnani.

Gasol for Jose, Amir, Fields/Kleiza makes more sense for the Lakers, IMO.

Amir would be a good fit in LA at the 4 - he can defend well enough, runs the floor and finishes well, and would do the dirty work.

It would add some depth to their roster (which to me seems like the big problem they have).

It might be a hard sell to Laker fans, because none of the pieces they would be getting back would be big names.

But, I have a hard time believing they wouldn't warm up to Amir and Jose, they're very fan friendly players.

Also it would keep the deadly Amir/Jose combo intact.

3 way trade Raptors/Lakers/Nuggets

Raptors Out: Jose, Amir, Bargs, Kleiza
In: Gasol, Wilson Chandler, Steve Blake, Jordan Hamilton

Lakers Out: Gasol
Lakers In: Jose, Amir, Kleiza

Nuggets Out: Wilson Chandler, Jordan Hamilton
In: Bargs

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=bprbkuy

Playoffs here we come!

Though, personally I doubt BC would be allowed to make a major deal if ownership isn't sure he'll still be here next year.

Not that bad actually. But I don't think Lakers do that. Even though Gasol is struggling right now, his skills and his reputation in the league is better than Jose, Amir and Kleiza. Also, Nuggets wouldn't want Bargs to start, Faried is beasting, Especially on the boards on a nightly basis. Not bad though.

Before I buy into Pau being "done" I'd like to know what a doctor says about his knees.

BC needs to make these type of big moves!! We will forever be stuck in the rebuilding stage if we keep drafting role players!!

You guys will get nothing for him. The Lakers have empty pockets as far as tradable players or picks. They do have an extra 250,000 dollars which Stern got from the Spurs. But Jose is worth more then two fitty.

Not sure what you did there. Stern is not pro Lakers, otherwise he would allowed to trade Paul to LA

If we got Pau for anything it'd be nothing short of a miracle. He's on another level to our squad TBH.

Gasol is sitting not because a trade involving the former four-time All-Star is in the works, according to multiple league sources. However, a source told ESPNLosAngeles.com that Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak has recently spoken to Gasol's representatives and the gist of the conversation was that if Gasol is unable to adjust to D'Antoni's system, the team will have no choice but to search for possible trade scenarios.

via Pau Gasol of Los Angeles Lakers out Tuesday against Houston Rockets with tendinitis in knees -- ESPN Los Angeles.

They want to get rid of Pau as much as we want to get rid of Bargnani, they also want Calderon, solution is so obvious! Come on, do it already!

Do you mean rumours about trading Gasol in general? Or specific rumours about trading him to Toronto?

As Jeff said, in general, there have been rumours about moving Gasol for over a year due to various reasons, like his inclusion in the failed Chris Paul deal. The most recent reason being the fit with Dantoni and his struggling play.

The Toronto connection is just one of those things that makes sense based on the limitations of Gasol's salary for finding trade partners, the Lakers hole at PG, and Toronto's frustration with Bargnani. A deal involving Cadly, Bargs, and Gasol fits teem needs and salary restrictions. All kinds of message board joe schmos recognized this within minutes of people calling for Bargnani's head. Then Grange picked up on it and put it in his article. And now it's snowballing. Who knows if the GMs actuallly like it at all or will actually consider doing it?
