if we can land Gasol in Toronto, why not to do it?

even we don't want him in long term, he is great trade asset in next season with his expiring contract.

Heard a rumour that LAL is waiting on Landry Fields to get healthy so that we can dump his shitty deal on them.... Jose, Landry, Amir for Pau. D'antoni loves Landry!!! Sick. wicked and nasty.

I wouldn't be angry if we got Pau, but I wouldn't be ecstatic either. If he is 28-28, then sure, awesome. But at 32, I just don't see the benefits. Other then maybe mentoring JV to an extent. I'd rather see our assets used to get an impact SF.

I would try to dump some salary in a trade for Gasol. With his trade kicker, he's going to be making around 22 million for this year and next. I would want some flexibility to use the mid-level to acquire another player without entering luxury tax territory. I'd try to dump Fields on them, Amir or Kleiza. Fields had his best season with Dantoni.

Calderon, Bargnani, Fields for Gasol, D Morris (expiring), and Earl Clark (expiring).

I don't mind Duhon, he only has 1.5 G next year. No way they're letting Artest go in the deal. This will really clear the books for 2014 as we would only have DeMar under contract at 9.5, Amir's final year can be amnestied and not count towards the cap, Valanciunas and T.Ross on rookie contracts. In two months time, we'll find out who's going to be the more desperate team, when taking into account factors such as injuries and performance.

Jose won't give you a impact SF...but Pau Gasol will!

we have two many mid-level player and they won't give W when game in less than 5 points.

Pau is proven All-star who has a ring on his finger...who else in this team have it?

If we're really trying to make the playoffs (and re-sign Lowry) then trading for Pau makes sense.

Add in the fact that our 1st round pick is probably gone this summer and it makes even MORE sense.

This fanbase is allergic to veterans. Calling a 32yr old player who is currently averaging a near double double nothing more than a mentor to Valanciunas and not worth having here is asinine.

I'm actually for a Gasol trade. I want Gasol to come here, irrespective of his health concerns seeing how he only has next year left on his contract. If we acquire him, we're going to be very close to the tax threshold in 2013 once you add his 15% trade kicker . We'll be close to 70 million in contracts for next year, if we don't amnesty anyone. I would want to unload someone like Kleiza so it provides us with some flexibility to acquire Gasol in ADDITION to a mid-level player in 2012 summer if needed. That's not a deal breaker for me, but I won't be comfortable with Lucas as our backup PG. Jarret Jack on two years or something like that is what I'm getting at. However, we still have other options once we acquire Gasol. We can try to dump Kleiza in a separate one for one deal for an expiring. I would want to save that amnesty in the future, if we need to dump Amir's contract to sign a wing in 2014. In a month-two months time, we're going to find out who will have the upper hand in negotiations. I don't see Ryan Anderson being available, so Bargnani is the Lakers best bet. If Nash continues to be sidelined by injuries, they will be desperate to acquire Calderon. Heck Calderon's percentages are like 43 48 and 96. Even when Nash comes back, they're going to limit his minutes with his health/age and Calderon becomes an asset. Gasol's also battling an injury of his own and has 2 years @ 44 million w TK. I wouldn't be surprised to see them take on one of our contracts to make the deal work. It's not a stretch to say that sometime down the road we may very well have the upper hand in negotiations.

,you're right...I remember being one of few who suggested the Raps go after Kirilenko and one person responded by saying " no,he's too old" dude is like only 30 or something haha.

Gasol would be good to have and he could always be flipped again later if it doesn't workout, kinda like Jermaine O'Neal.

Same here, I also suggested making a run for Kirilenko. I'm not entirely sure I would have given him 2 years 20 million at the time, but he's playing really well in Minny. He can defend, block shots, rebound. It would have been nice to have him right now.

Oddly one of the fan favorites in this fanbase was a 37yr old Charles Oakley. lol

There is no way the Lakers take on a career loser and cancer like Jose Calderon for Pau Gasol. They will go a much cheaper route and roll with Blake when he gets back.

I'm no Calderon fan as a player, but a loser or CANCER?

WTF are you smoking?
