the USA will not win the gold medal they are way to cocky and have huge egos, my pick is Spain.Tons of talent that play together as a team

Personally, I'm a fan of Argentina in this tourny. Ginobili is a great player and is the one player that can give fits to the Americans.

Spain, plays like a machine. They're so succinct.

The US, should win the gold medal, however, they seem fragile, for lack of a better term. They need to be in perfect balance, otherwise they'll be their own worst enemy.

The olympics havent been kind to either Bosh or Boozer because its really a guards game, which leaves Dwight as really the only solid contributor at the big position. I think this will be exploited when they play Spain. Dont underestimate Spain vs the US, the way they move the ball and the shooting and creativity they have on the floor is going to give the US tons of problems, not to mention that we havent even seen US vs any kind of zone yet with this exact team.

Speaking of which, why didnt Leo even try to have his guys play zone vs the US? Maybe then they woulda only lost by 45.

Next Friday's game against Lithuania will be a better indicator. But it's hard to see this team losing in Beijing - they are much better than 2 years ago when they were the best team in the competition, even though they lost to Greece. Kobe and Kidd will add the leadership that was missing at the World Cup.

Spains defense has improved with the new coach, thats the only reason I think we might have a chance. Like you said, its pretty obvious that against the US it will and it has to be zone zone and more zone. The objetive is going to be to make the americans think as much as they can, long posesions, slow the game, make them shooters and hope none of them is on fire, thats the only way to have a chance.

Still, I dont think we will beat them.

SJ, US will most likely win the gold, but they won't do it in a fashion the original Dream Team did it in, if they do it at all. Not only are these guys not close to the team that featured Bird, Magic, Jordan, Malone (just to name a few) - the rest of the field has improved dramatically since then.

I will be rooting for Spain. In fact, any team with serious bigs will give US fits because, once again, the Americans are undersized and are relying on their guards and, consequently, outside shooting. If/when they go cold from three - watch out, they won't get any touch fouls called.

I'm definitely going for Spain here. Just imagine the country if they win this tourney seeing as they have won 3 (?) other championships in other sports this summer already.

I'm cheering for Spain, of course, and as Mike has said, the US' frontcourt (at the center spot) isn't that good.

Dunno who is going to win, but I'm sure Scorchianitis wants to say somethings to DH. heehehe
