Hawks Us vs. Them: The Atlanta Hawks.

Hey all

Overall when we are looking at the eastern conference in April 2014-

Who do you see with the better record, us or the Hawks?

Discuss.

I personally see us with the better record (barring any major injuries/trades).

As much as Millsaps been a Raptor killer, I just don't see him meshing fast enough with the Hawks to give them too much of a boost. Our team continuity and chemistry should be fairly more advanced than theirs..

They have a very well looking team. Great spacing, great big combo. If Lou Williams is healthy, they have good depth too. Their biggest question mark to me right now is their new coach, partly because of drink and driving, partly because he's new, but he has a ton of experience under a great coach.

I think they are more talented than the Raptors, but more importantly they are much better built.

They don't have a quality SF (Korver should be used off the bench) and they lack height. They have no dependable backup C but otherwise they are pretty deep. (with mostly average players)

Our starting five is better but their bench can beat ours. I think we can handle them, I'm curious how Millsap and Schroder will fit in.

I could see us beating them in matchups, but the overall talent level on their team pretty much guarantees a higher place in the final standings than us. I see them as a 5-7 team, us as a 7-11 team. They really haven't lost much compared to last year, and it could be argued that they are actually better year over year.

Shocked that this poll is tied.

What do you expect man, on a Raptors forum no matter what the poll is, people will pick the raptors.

Apparently, we're finishing ahead of Atlanta AND getting Wiggins.

ATL are practically a lock to make the playoffs while the Raps aren't.

Also, didn't you hear that the Raps only improved this summer while other teams did nothing or remained the same

That SF spot pretty much says it all. I also like their SG rotation, both Lou and Korver can't handle Demar.

I haven't seen much of DeMarre Carroll, is he a starter? Looking at his stats he looks to me like a pure backup. I won't be surprised if Millsap will start for them as SF with Brand as a PF.

Until I see some cold hard stats this all sounds more like a case of me overvaluing the Raps and you guys overvaluing the Hawks.

Basically the Hawks are a team that lost their most important player + Pachulia (who won't turn heads but def was important for them).

Sure they added Millsap and Brand but whether that works out for them remains to be seen. This is not necessarily a team "that got better while the Raps did nothing" since they still have holes in their roster of which the Raps can easily take advantage.

Too many question marks but I'm very curious to find out what they can do.

they have no wings. huge problem. but they would pound the raps inside and force gay and derozan to shoot long 2's and 3's (which is not hard to force, as we all know). both teams are shitty.
