The agent is right, we have no other canadian bred players who are any good and a case like Dalemberts is rare. I dunno wtf Leo has done to alienate some of the talent but hes a fucking idiot if he tried to single out Dalembert infront of the whole team like I've read. What a douchebag, especially if Dal came and played injured.

lol, how many canadian players does that agent represent? only Dalambert, isn't it? I would like to know what Anthony has to say about those words.

This kind of things use to happen (at least in Europe), and it doen't mind who is the guilty. It's about maths: 1 or 11. Coach always has to choose the good for the group, it's very difficult to win when only one player trust on the coach.

About Kobe, different timming, he only spoke in the offseason and at the preseason they had some time to fix that mess.

If the rest of players are on the Leo's side (and they won, so I think it), he did what he had to do.

We need to hear the whole story somehow. Dalembert went from a national hero, getting his citizenship rushed and playing on one leg, to a team scapegoat in an awful hurry for me to get on his case. Something's fishy here, and I wouldn't be surprised if the stench turned out to be coming from Leo.

When I first read the story my first inclination was to blame Leo. It doesn't make much sense to me to laud Dalembert for really wanting to get involved in the national program and then treat him like everyone else on the team. In lauding him and promoting him as such, Leo and the execs at Canada Basketball make him more important than the team. If you want to make the guy accountable then stop revering him in public.

Sure Leo did what he had to. If Dalembert is dogging out there then you call like it is, but if you're giving him special treatment anyway, then you need to think something like this will happen, you can't flip flop when you're talking about a dude's ego. This whole thing smells of Rafer Alston all over again, which of course was as much sam's fault as it was rafer's.

I wish we could know what really happened. I agree with Leo, no player should be bigger than the team, if that was the case with Sam. I guess that's the end of a short career representing Canada, for Dalembert.

I don't want to sound like an ass or anything, but I don't give 2 shits about Canadian basketball.

Sorry guys I know we invented it and all but I seriously just don't give a fuck.

I think it's best to say that we didn't invent it seeing as clearly we are not the greatest bball players.

Here's Sammy response courtesy of the Toronto Sun:

Dalembert was asked to leave the Canadian team at the Olympic qualifying tournament in Athens yesterday, prior to Canada's 79-77 win over South Korea, reportedly because he was no longer demonstrating the proper commitment to the team -- allegations Dalembert denies.

"I still love Canada and I'm sorry for the fans back home because I know they were very excited about our team," Dalembert told Sun Media from Athens. "I'm still dedicated and committed to play for Canada in the future."

The exact reasons for Dalembert's banishment remains a mystery. Rautins said problems had been brewing with the Philadelphia 76ers centre for some time, while Dalembert denied that he wasn't 100% on board the program.

The Haitian-born centre, who received his Canadian passport last year in the quest to play for Canada at next month's Beijing Olympics, also refused to elaborate on what went wrong, saying only there were certain teammates that he didn't get along with and that some people, including Rautins, were trying to make him a scapegoat for Canada's poor play in a loss to Slovenia on Monday.

"The coach questioning my commitment to the team after the things I've done? That hurts," he said, denying he had become a prima donna.

"I never tried to put myself higher than anybody else," he said. "I put my NBA career on hold to play for this country. Nobody put a gun to my head."

CONFUSED

Dalembert said he was actually confused when Rautins asked him to leave the team, although there were reports that his attitude problems began at training camp last month in Toronto.

"I don't know what it is, but there was a lot of stuff that built up," he said. "I like some of the group, there are some guys I don't get along with, but I try to be accommodating and be on the same page as everyone. I don't think anybody can say I didn't."
So, maybe Rautins is the issue and not Dalembert after all. I'm interested to hear what Leo has to say for himself.

But WE did invent it .... just not in Canada though. Although the idea came from when Naismith played "Duck on a rock" as a child in Almonte growing up, the wheels were turning then. So the game may of been invented in Springfield, but the ideas already started years earlier in my hometown of Almonte.

Leo likes to make himself the centre of attention. This isn't the first time and it wont be the last time.

It's probably better that this team doesn't make it to the Olympics. Better chance of a house cleaning.

If Canada wants to seriously compete in the basketball world, they're going to need guys like Dalembert, Nash, Mendez etc. To boot these guys from the team is short sighted.

See, you've already jumped the gun and have accused Leo of being the one to blame. We have to wait to here the other side of the story too.

I expected the kind of response that Dalembert gave just so he could play it safe and still look good in the public eye. I wasn't expecting a verbal outburst towards Leo. I think Rautins will be more candid though once the current tournament is over.

Well yeah you're right. We haven't heard Leo's side yet. But judging by Sammy's responses I, and I bet a few other people, think this is mostly Leo's fault.

But you're right, we'll just have to see what Leo says about this, it'll be interesting.

I like to know Leo's side.

Someone should Email the Swirsk and ask him if Leo is as much of a dink as he seems to be.

You guys are idiots, using your dislike for Rautin's commentary during Raptor games to cloud your judgement on this issue.

He's annoying during games, but he definatly knows his shit.

Dalembert admitted he had tension with some players, that speaks VOLUMES, BArret already came out in support of Rautins.

Get your heads outta your asses

Wow, slow it down sunshine......

I never said anything about his commentary. I said someone should ask Chuck if he is a dink, it was meant toward who he is as a person not who he is as a commentator. I already know he sucks at that, no need to ask Chuck about that, just ask about how Leo is to work with.
