Raptors Update on the progress of MLSE sale

Quote:
What Peddie can't say, but which may have the most immediate impact on MLSE's value, is the success the NBA may or may not have in instituting the hard salary cap and wage reductions league owners are seeking after locking out their players beginning last week.

The frenzy of free agent signings in the NHL over the same period have industry watchers speculating the league could seek similar wage rollbacks when its CBA expires a year from now.

Every dollar saved in wages would go directly to MLSE's bottom line. If new cost controls in basketball and hockey cut MLSE's player expenses from $130 million to $100 million, that would add $300 million to the company's valuation instantly, according to banking industry sources.

Quote:
One source told me that they have heard Rogers has made a significant offer for Teachers shares. Another said that if a formal offer has not been formalized the parties are in agreement as to what the offer would be.

All I know is that Rogers Sportsnet wants to be first so there is absolutely no way there going to let Bell/TSN out bid them.
