Great deal BC.

I think Bargs wil eventually be a 20-22PPG/8RPG/2blk kind of player. And that might be close to his numbers this coming season. Book it!

I'm sure he'll get asked about Marion and what he's gonna do with the bench. His answers or lack thereof may give us an indication as to how confident he is about what's gonna happen and what he has planned.

Yup. The best part about it is numbers like that from a centre are worth much more than 10 million per.

i don't think we should raise the bar that high or else we'll hate Bargnani well he doesn't preform to our expectations

I'm saying he'll eventually be around those numbers which isn't a stretch.

I'm thinking this season will look like 19-20PPG/7RPG/1.5Blk which is not much of a stretch. Therefore he'll be pretty close to those numbers this season.

Bargnani will never average 2 blocks a game. he suprised a few by actualy trying on defence last season but he isn't a great stand still leaper. if he shuts down his rebounding all together, he still wouldn't average 2 blocks and certainly isn't gonna do it while grabing 8 boards a game. BOOK that

as for the scoring 20+, sure he's likely capable but he's gonna be giving up some of his FG attempts so that hedo can chuck off balance 22 footers at a low percentage. don't know if we'll see that scoring production until Bosh is gone

i hope he gets those numbers too. Im surprised Bargnani agreed to the deal, 5 years is a long time. If he ever becomes an allstar, he'll regret this contract

All Andrea has to do is stand his ground and be a seven footer, and the blocks will come. He had 4, 5, 6 block games last year without even leaving his feet.

Let's make a wild assumption that his first year salary is around 8.5-8.8 million, and that he gets 10.5% raises every year to get to the $50 million total over 5 years.

Now let's compare that salary to other bigs in the league (as of 2010) and I think you will find that this is definitely a fair contract (this is intended only to show how much of a premium you pay your big men):

Kendrick Perkins - 4.9
DeSagana Diop - 6.5
Nazr Mohammed - 6.5
Emeka Okafor - 11.5
Eric Dampier - 13.1
Kenyon Martin - 16.6
Nene - 11.4
Andris Biedrins - 9.0
Jeff Foster - 6.7
Chris Kaman - 11.3
Zach Randolph - 17.3
Andrew Bynum - 13.7
Udonis Haslem (2009) - 7.1
Andrew Bogut - 11.0
Dan Gadzuric - 7.2
Etan Thomas (2009) - 8.0
Tony Battie (2009) - 6.6
Tyson Chandler - 13.2
Eddy Curry - 11.3
Darko Milicic (2009) - 7.5
Nick Collison - 6.9
Nenad Krstic - 5.5
Marcin Gortat - 5.8
Samuel Dalembert - 13.0
Joel Pryzbilla - 7.4
Mehmet Okur - 9.0
Brendan Haywood - 6.0

Exactly, he's long and is often up against players shorter then him. He'll eventually average 2blk per. Book it!

considering that darko got 8/yr with nothing to show for it, and bynum got 15/yr for two months of 12/8 two seasons ago, this is a very good deal. If Bargnani get to 20/8/2, a very reasonable expectation, this will become a major steal.

However, the biggest implication of this deal is that we can afford to overpay Bosh now, because it's compensated by andreea's salary.

Between hedu, bosh, andreea and Calderon we'd have 46/year commited to 4 starters, leaving 20 for the rest of the team in 2010/2011. But once the cap recovers in 2012, we could have 30+, which should be enough to construct a very good team under the luxury tax.
