Default Up-tempo style? How about starting Joey at 2?

I think the benefit of this is that Joey is quick and athletic enough to defend just about any SG out there. I envision a line-up of Bargs, Bosh, Marion, Graham and Calderon/Ukic doing some serious damage on the fast break.I think Marion and Graham can run the outlet lanes very well and having Bargs & Bosh coming up as the trailers actually would play more to their skills (Bargs with trailing 3's, Bosh able to get inside position much more easily).

I suggest this because I simply don't think with the pieces we currently have that we have anyone else at SG who could run the fast break well. Our options? Kapono (err, no), Parker (just doesn't have the speed), Solomon? (maybe, but the bigger opponents would murder him).

Therefore, if we're going to be running more fast break basketball, I contend that Joey is our best option to start at the 2. What do you think?

Graham was playing better before he got hurt. It's a possibility for him to start, for sure.

I'd be OK with that. I think it may also help us focus on pounding the ball inside. I'd love to see Joey posting up some 2-guards.

And our rebounding should improve as well with that lineup.

I'm not opposed to this idea. Joey's as close to a slasher as we have regrettably.

If we're going up-tempo, wouldn't Joey be better suited playing against players he's faster than...like most 3 and 4's?

As the team is currently constructed I still think Parker is the best option we have.

Ukic would be better at the 2. I liken him to Barbosa before he developed a shot.

True. That lineup isn't really "up-tempo".... but it's still one I'd like to see on the floor.

Not to be too harsh.... but I don't know if any lineup with Jose can be termed an up-tempo lineup.... I am not convinced yet that he is capable of effectively operating that style.

Hell I would try that, what has the team got to lose

Caldy/Ukic
Graham/AP
Matrix/Kapono
Bosh
Bargs

AP would be a good 6th man

joey is not faster than ap ... he seems faster when playing the 4, but if he's a the 2 he will not be able to outrun anybody.

So you are suggesting to have 4 players on the floor who can play PF (Bosh,Bargnani,Marion,Graham) ... wondering who is going to play in the second unit? Kapono/Parker/Banks/Ukic/Solomon won't be able to play PF and Hump is injured. Jawai and Jake are C.

As for Joey being faster than AP: Fastbreak basketball isn't necessarily achieved by literally running with the ball. You can pass the ball upcourt faster than anyone can run.
Parker's a better passer and shooter so I'd stick with AP at the 2 with Joey at the 3 until Bosh returns.
Ukic is much better at the top of the floor with the ball than on the wing. At the 2 he'd have much less room to operate. Besides, he's easily the most creative passer the Raps have. I say let him loose to run the break on the 2nd unit so you have contrasting styles at the point like Toronto did when the TJ and Calderon combination was working.
