what do you think will be our record at the 1st january ?

Toronto Raptors vs Houston Rockets

18/12
Toronto Raptors @ Cleveland Cavaliers
19/12
Toronto Raptors vs Detroit Pistons

21/12
Toronto Raptors vs Orlando Magic

26/12
Toronto Raptors @ San Antonio Spurs

28/12
Toronto Raptors @ New Orleans Hornets
29/12
Toronto Raptors @ Orlando Magic

7games
3 at home - 4 on the road

Bill Haverchuck 12-15-2012 08:00 AM

If they play without Lowry and Bargnani the whole way through, I think they win 3 games. Bargnani out of the lineup makes the defense better. And I don't necessarily think Calderon is better than Lowry, but right now the team has more chemistry with Jose, and Jose plays with more confidence when he knows he's getting his minutes. 3-4 is realistic under those conditions.

LuffyGear2 12-15-2012 08:42 AM

if they can get a very difficult win tomorrow against houston, i see a winning streak coming which will last until the san antonio game (5 game winning streak), against the spurs we will lose and against the next two (new orleans, orlando), i see the team win one of them (don't know which) ---> 10-21 :cookie:

best case: we win everything besides against the spurs
worst case: we only win one game against those lower teams like detroit, cleveland or orlando

Carlos Danger 12-15-2012 08:58 AM

9-22

Two wins against Orlando, one against Detroit, and one against NO

jeffb 12-15-2012 09:46 AM

9-22

Home games, easier opponents. We should win some games. Possibly even 10-21

Chiggmo 12-15-2012 10:08 AM

Lose em all plz

Led Boots 12-15-2012 10:19 AM

Toronto's seven games out of a playoff spot.

carp 12-15-2012 10:55 AM

We beat an absolutely slumping Dallas squad where they went 0-for from three and looked anemic on offence as their best players (on the court) struggled mightily to hold on to the ball and make open looks. There is no winning streak coming soon. We're just not that good. Say it was the defense all you want last night, it wasn't. They looked terrible. Heck, we looked terrible. This optimism is not based in reality. We will struggle and I predict we won't win two in a row until one of Lowry or Bargnani come back.

Also, we're now past the two teams with pathetic frontcourts. Here comes the boom.

Bill Haverchuck 12-15-2012 11:48 AM

I think we only split with Orlando. Don't sleep on the Magic. They can beat us when they are at home.

I think we beat the Pistons and the Magic at home, and maybe even Houston. I figure we win one of the Cleveland and Houston games. So 3-4 total, as I said above. That's assuming Bargnani GTFOs the whole 7 games.

Yeah, you make some good points. I don't see a serious win streak coming. But I do think the Raps can win a few of these games.

Aside from losing close games, the main reason the Raps' record sucks is because they're horriawful on the road: 1-14.

But they actually are decent at home: 4-5. And out of those losses, they lost to the Pacers by 1 point, and the Spurs and Jazz in overtime. They've got a few homes games against less challenging opponents, so I think they can win at least a couple of those.

INSIDER 12-15-2012 12:22 PM

4 wins outta the bunch.
i actually think we'll beat Houston to start things off.

Raptors1995 12-15-2012 02:52 PM

Just one game. The schedule is really in our favour for the remainder of the month. If Lowry returns earlier, I think we could make a strong push.

Houston: Loss
Cleveland: Loss
Detroit: Win
Orlando: Win
Spurs: Loss
Hornets: Win
Magic: Loss

8-23
3-4

Chiggmo 12-15-2012 04:48 PM

What in the hell makes you think we can win these guys? Have you not noticed the pathetic performances we put up game in and game out? And that were in the bottom of the league?? Man you people smoke some amazing drugs...

Is it really THAT far fetched to say we can still compete for a playoff spot then? I still think we can make the playoffs if we're under .500....

Well, we won a game. And now we have all the answers and thats that ;)

Dario 12-15-2012 05:51 PM

12-19 would be nice, but probably 9-23

Come on, lets just have those 5 minutes of joy at least. All in all it was not your usuall terrible game..

That said, I think Houston is overrated and overacheiving. Not that there's a great chance the Raps can beat them, but I do believe there's a close game coming. Then again we all know how those usually go..

LuffyGear2 12-16-2012 11:20 AM

today is the day, if we can win this game i believe they could get a winning streak running and a 10-21 record at the end of the month would be a real possibility, if they lose today it will go on like the whole season and we'll go into january with something like 7-24; pretty important game today :reporter:

LOG 12-16-2012 11:31 AM

See the thing is, we keep saying that today is the day. I think it's too little too late, unless we are really going to go 180 degrees

LuffyGear2 12-16-2012 11:40 AM

better if they really get the win today, i would say better (too) late than never :cookie:

it's not so good for the tank :cookie:

LuffyGear2 12-16-2012 12:42 PM

tanking is not a good idea imo, let's get our young players some winning experiences and let them grow with that, this coming draft is pretty bad, would we be in the season 13-14, i would be full on the tank (because of wiggins), but now let's think about our prospects :cookie:

Raptors1995 12-17-2012 11:48 PM

We did a decent job against Brookyln all things considered.

Bargnani fans just can't believe it.
If AB stays healthy for the team i.e. broken we'll win all those games, safe from SA.
11-20

bargnani coming back, coming off the bench, may be the best thing to happen to this team. if this team really turns it around and makes the playoffs with bargnani as a sixth man I could see him winning or contending for the sixth man award...

Bankiz 12-24-2012 06:49 AM

rest 3 of those 7. we win the last 4.
great, now they should win 2 of the last 4.

we will be 11-20, that would not be bad considering the schedule ahead of us.

KoolAid 12-24-2012 01:06 PM

We win 2 of 3 imo, maybe even beat Spurs with all this rest.

Spot on again!

raptor123 12-31-2012 09:05 AM

Congrats to LuffyGear2, moujik & raptor123 for correctly picking the Raptors record heading into the New Year !!!!! 11-20

Yeah Baby....The seed is planted !!!!!!! :yeah:

FLO 12-31-2012 09:10 AM

It's so aggravating thinking if we didn't have AB killing our team from the start of the season we'd probably be in the playoffs right now.

I would not pin all our struggles on our poor start on Bargs.IMO you have to listen to the "word" yes the word from the lips from players from last year. Team........Trust......the seed has been planted.

When you hear players saying that we are once again playing Team D like last year.Well IMO its all about playing for the name on the front of the jersey and not the back.

IMO we had too many players starting the season with the wrong mindset. It was not all players IMO..... management had their hands in the cookie jar that just created the "ME game" and the cookies are all mine attitude !!!

i.e's

DC attitude with Bargs...hes our guy ....Bargs feels he has to lead the team in scoring.....hence volume shooter it is.....so IMO we all should give him a free pass

BC with Lowry we are giving him the keys .....big words for the new guy....a guy that did not want to be a back up behind Nash if he came here.....the guy that believes hes a foundation guy you build around....so what did you expect from Lowry ???? He went out to prove to all that hes the guy....IMO that pressure from management right from the get go was not Kyles doing.....so IMO we all should give him a free pass

DD Our high flyer.....its contract extention time......meaning show time for a young player. Again...... IMO its about me and the New Contract. I want to be the guy mentality......so IMO we all should give him a free pass

In conclusion 3 out of 5 starters were trying to play their own game....it took injuries to separate the 3......once the 3 were broken up things started to change......our record was shit to the point IMO you can say we hit rock bottom.....the seed was planted the players listened to the word Team and Trust was reborn .....IMO we are now a differant team.

So to say that Bargs was the root to all our isssues IMHO I say lets give him a free pass like we did with Lowry and DD lets see how Bargs plays once he returns. !!!

I know everyone is feeling upbeat, but let's not forget what dug us a hole!

First, DD didn't need any fucking "free pass"!
Lowry had to do hero ball, because we were getting killed.

It's amazing how people still try to find excuses for il Muggo!

Let's not see how Bargs plays ever again for Raptors!!

I blame Bargnanni. Casey had to pamper him because he was the franchise guy making the most money... while he was killing his system, I am pretty sure DC wanted to take Bargs out games that he was struggling, but who knows, management probably wanted to see AB on the court, now Casey is coaching the way he wants, Klieza struggling, well he gets no minutes, can't exactly do that with your most expensive player.. but he is out, defensive intensity is up, players are communicating better, more chemistry.. if Bargs messed up nobody said anything to him, because he is a sensitive dude, can't have that as your main guy

Sorry, but Casey is the coach and not Bargs. Casey gets paid to decide who to put on the floor. Why isn't Fields playing more given his contract. The other thing is that Bargs is not making big franchise money ... I believe he gets a little less than Jose .. aournd $10M ... still an excellent salary. I'm certainly not taking any blame off Bargs on how he played, but Casey is the coach and gets paid to make decisions on who plays.

I think injuries and trying to force Lowry, Fields, and JV into the starting line-up vs playing AA who was clearly the better SF had a lot to do with the shit start. AA and even Pietrus playing SF has been a big help on the SF spot.
