This draft is about 7-9 guys deep. As in 7-9 guys who would step in and probably be a top player on this team.

Wiggins
Randle
Exum
Gordon
Smart
Embiid
Parker
Harrision

Thats NBA Draft Xpress' top 8. Seven of those would be upgrades over current positions (potential busts noted, but for the sake of the tank, no busts)

Each of those players except for Smart are 18 years old. Incredibly skilled and young class.

If he's projected top 5 throughout the year, which isn't unlikely, he will almost certainly declare.

So we lose to one of the best teams in history, and that marks the occasion to officially call for the tank? I'm glad to see this is so well thought out.

What team that scored a pick in 2003 managed to do anything with it? Detroit went into a tailspin. Denver and Toronto became (what was that now?) treadmill teams, and Toronto ended up with two of the picks once they got TJ, Cleveland couldn't convert but had some fun, Miami got it done with Shaq in play right away, and then again when they damn near put that whole draft together. It'd be nice to have a fresh injection of talent, but then again it might not. It almost certainly won't be enough on it's own. I'm done with any kind of hype. I'm pretty confident our GM is not one to buy into hype. So i'll be happy to see him build a strong organization from top to bottom rather than operating on autopilot from lottery to lottery.

I think a lot of people realized yesterday just how futile a series of us vs Miami would really be.

Detroit won a championship with Darko (though not because of him) and they had great bigs, who knows what he could've been had he not been behind the Wallaces. Not to mention overseas scouting is a lot better nowadays. Cleveland became a contender and if they had been able to get any decen pieces around lebron they most likely could have won a chip. Masai is much more competent than Cleveland's FO so I'm not worried about that, and we already have JV who will probably be better than anyone on those Cleveland teams. Toronto was screwed by the pitiful return for Vince Carter and more bad GM work. Denver was a decently successful team too.

If we don't tank what do you suggest we do? Fact of the matter is that Toronto is currently not a free agency destination and us being in the fight for 8/9th for two years is not going to change that. Our guys have very little trade value. That leaves us with building through the draft, which I think anyone will agree is easiest to do with high picks.

Oops, didn't watch far enough. But trust me, if faced with choosing between the contract of a high pick vs going to college and not being paid and risking injury, he will definitely pick NBA.

I read an article from August where Exum said he is enticed by the money a top 5 pick gets and is considering it

If masai plans on trading Rudy, it should have been done 2 weeks ago. I think he's starting to become negative value trade-wise because of his shot selection and contract.

It will be tough to watch them lose, but im finally on board.
Something must be done to shake things up, our coach, system, and collective roster might squeeze out a 41-41 season, but that simply isn't good enough.

If we need a completely abysmal season in order to turn things around, so be it.
I would be happy with a top 5 pick, doesnt need to be wiggins

We're not even 5 games in and we're looking forward to the draft already. Love this team.

If this is what we can look forward to for the rest of the season then I won't bother wasting my time or my money supporting this broken product.

You honestly still haven't accepted that this roster is going nowhere and it just so happened that this upcoming draft pool is gonna be amazing?

When we had our 2003 pick we didn't have a GM that had any clue what to do. We have Masai now, and he's clearly not blind as to not see how horrid this roster is.
