Default Is uncertainty hurting this team

Attempting to move away from the negativity of player a v. player b. I've been musing about this in my head lately.

Is the uncertainty about 2010 harming this team?

It's no secret that 2010 is a big free agent year. And, it's no secret that this team has been playing selfishly lately, well since the AS break.

Guys are on contract years. The CBA is changing. Salaries are looking to go down with a new CBA. Are these factors influencing these players on our squad.

Our best player needs a contract. Amir needs one. Wright needs one. Do the other players possibly see these guys as playing for themselves? Are the contract guys playing for themselves?

Or is the uncertainty of not possibly having your best player next season, also harming this squad. Is there the idea that there's no point in playing together since they may already know that these three guys are looking to leave?

So, is uncertainty killing this team. And in turn, did this uncertainty grow because Jay doesn't know how to handle these types of rumors (the NBA isn't about x's and o's it's about personalities).

And is the problem too deep rooted?

they seem to be handling it

I'm sure it's a factor. Overall though i'm stumped. Our roster is flawed, but we've won games we shouldn't and continue to lose games we should at least compete in.

Yeah but they leaders.

And Phoenix has their best player locked up in Nash.

Miami has outright said their looking to attract players. Has Toronto?

And I think the players on Cleveland know LBJ is likely staying. They're a championship squad.

Also, look at the coaches there. Strong minded or experienced.

Bingo! If we have one here, imo we're still 5th.

I'm sure that it's in the back of their minds but it seems to me that they have lost confidense in themselves, their teammates and the coaching staff.

agree with Swan. It could play a role but it's hard for us to judge how big of a role and what the players know - or think, about each other (Bosh..). Overall it's astonishing though how big the drop off has been since the AS break.

we would be challenging for 3rd place, especially if a coach motivated Hedo

Who knows what has happened maybe Bosh told the whole team that he is leaving this summer & everyone is just not playing for anything anymore??

Stranger things have happened in the NBA.

I doubt that Bosh has told the whole team he is leaving.

I can see where his leadership might be weakened a little, but not really to the degree where everyone just shuts him out. On the floor they are still looking for him to carry them - and probably too much. Meanwhile Amir and Wright just don't get the minutes to be effective as leaders.

If you can get Andrea fighting for boards and communicating well on defense, as we've seen him do, then you get good results. The real uncertainty seems to come from whether that is going to happen or not.

And the other area of uncertainty comes from not seeing a real emphasis placed on defense. There are enough guys that commit to playing good defense. The coaches always seem to look at putting the right offensive guys on the floor, and I would say they do so for the sake of certainty. As in everyone can be certain of their place in the rotation no matter what. So, you might actually make the case that certainty is hurting this team.

That is at the core of all that's happening now. Bosh's relationship with the other guys is not like he will play with them next year. It is not necessary for Bosh to express that openly; they can understand that from a million things, these guys are together the whole day. Obviously there is no friendship between Bosh and the others. That is no way to be a leader. The situation is in no way comparable to LBJ; LBJ has shown every sign that he is happy in that team; Bosh has shown every sign that he wants to leave. Why did Bosh not sign already? He could have signed for a very big contract, and make everything clear for everybody. He didn't because he simply has other plans. The other players would surely feel that. The biggest mistake has been not asking Bosh to commit, if there was any idea of bulding a team around Bosh.
Just look at LBJ's relationship with teammates, the pre-game fun etc, and than look at Bosh's expressions and body language.
