Default The ultimate "Would you..." question

Saw a topic on RealGM, thought it would interesting.

Bargnani
Kapono
Joey G.

for

VC

Works in trade checker.

Caldy/Carter/Moon/Bosh/JO, with Ukic, Parker off the bench and maybe some cheap veteran signings because we'd be on the short list of contenders.

NJ would have to sign onto this, they get a potentially great young player in Bargnani, and 8 mil worth of contract that runs out by the Lebron year, one of who is a pretty solid asset himself. Though having 3 equally young and unproven 7 footers would be hilarious.

It'd be the ultimate sell your soul move... but I'd do it.

Not to mention Vince will rolling on the court in agony within the first dozen games with some type of leg injury.

Vince Carter will not and should not ever be a Toronto Raptors again.

Honestly, I'd take being a contender for the shame of welcoming back Wince... and maybe he could promise retribution to us...

The depth can be solved with paying a little lux tax for 2-3 more vets, Boston-style. Remember they traded like their whole team for KG.

VC's contract is MASSIVE! He's a talent, no question, but he doesn't have the heart - and that's what he has been missing pretty much his whole career.

I think you could say we'd be a top-3 team (in the east) easy with that lineup, but we'd be mortgaging the future bigtime. I'll pass.

And I don't know if jersey would take on Bargs with Lopez and Yi already in the fold.

However the point is that for just about any team, Bargs and Kapono wouldn't be enough to get a scorer on the level of Carter. But NJ has already proven they just want to dump contract, as shown with the RJ thing. If nothing else, this deal combined is just another 12 mil off by the Lebron year... they'd be so far under the cap that they could sign Lebron and another big name at the same time, lol.

So would everyone, but that package wouldn't cut it for the Pistons.

^^ Yeah but I don't think it will be Carter going. Lebron isn't going to sign a contract to a team whos best players are Harris and ???

^ Wasn't Detroit one of theams with interest in Bargs? though I read that somewhere

We'd be in a worse off position with Carter - at least long term. He'd play hard for MAYBE a season or two, but then the same shit would happen all over again. I'll pass.

Kapono doesn't come off the books before 2010 does he?

And they wouldn't trade for Bargs and then not extend him.

Regardless...no, no, no, no, no.

Honestly, I wouldn't want Carter back here for the minimum. It's a matter of prinicipal. He held this team and it's fans hostage. Forget his heart, his injury concerns, what he brings as far as basketball goes. Vince Carter fucked this franchise, and in my opinion, that is completely unforgiveable.

The Pistons would want young players on the brink of stardom, if not there already for Rip.

Yi. Lopez.

Lotto picks with a couple years experience at key positions.

And do you really think Lebron is looking at NJ and saying "Man, I would LOVE to play with Vince Carter. Such a fantastic teammate. I'm sure he'd fit in perfectly beside me, one of the most ball dominant players in the league"???

It's been basically NY area teams that have been talked about, so who the hell do you think Lebron is going to sign with? The Knicks? With all the phenomenal talent they've amassed there?

I'd take Carter for the minimum. For the minimum? Damn right I would. But not for what he's making now. I know what you're alluding to, Swag, but ultimately Carter leaving was good for this franchise because it brought us Colangelo. Besides, most fans here are fairweather. If Vince ever came back, all it would take are a couple of monster jams, and everything would be forgiven.

Yes, him leaving was good for the franchise.

Not good? Him driving down his trade value by averaging 16 ppg and playing like horseshit after demanding a trade in the summer.

We received Aaron Williams, Eric Williams and Zo, who didn't play, for one of the premier scorers in the league arguably in the prime of his career.

He fucked us. Bottom line. Rob Babcock contributed by not trading him that summer, but to go out there and purposely play BS basketball?

I have no tolerance for that.

Babcock should have done with Carter what they did what Donnie Walsh, Larry Bird and company did with Artest when he didn't want to play in Indy anymore - they should have just sent him home.

I'm pretty sure Baron Davis for Carter straight up was being floated around that summer. Not sure how seriously, but that just goes to show how badly Vince hurt his trade value with his play in the first couple months of that season.

It was mishandled from a few angles, but still, Vince knowingly put the team in a position to get fucked.
