I am not so sure NJ is going to be as horrible as the Raps where when we were "restructuring". Harris is a fine player, I like Yi's game a lot - we will see what happens, but I wouldn't consider them pushovers. Vince is still a douche, but...

Plus, by him half assing it out there on more than one occassion is really telling the team and fans off because really his focus shifted to himself.

VC deserves credit for what he did and if we could ignore (2003 was it? ...can't remember) then I'd say we should honour him. But the way he went out, I just can't forgive him unless he manned up.
How about the fact that he tanked games? He averaged like 14PPG in his final season here and then got traded to jersey where he instantly went back to 25PPG. Give me a break...

At the end of the day, what did he do here? I mean seriously now. Do you honestly think that the Celtics or the Lakers would do something to honor a player who helped them go to the playoffs three times and in all have it amount to two first round crushes and a second round defeat? What has he accomplished in the playoffs for Toronto? What has he really accomplished besides personal accolades? Some people like to say "Vince Carter put Toronto on the map, thats why." Well let me tell you this, Vince Carter put himself on the map and when he left he took the media circus with him. I know the team has been pretty much pathetic for most of its life but at the end of the day there has to be a precident set for honoring players and if Vince Carter overall is worthy of having his jersey hung at the ACC then the place is going to be lettered with all sorts of jerseys 20 or 30 years down the road once this franchise has some REAL history behind it.

Never say never.....

Mabey he will fly to an asteroid and he dies while detonating a nuclear device blowing up said meteor and saving all of mankind. If he did that then I wouldnt mind seing his jersey hanging in the rafters.

Of course this wouldnt happen because he would hurt his knee on the way out of the ship and then proceed to tell the asteroid our plans of destroying it.

Damn asshole.....

I dont think anyone would said his number would be retired for the Raptors or for anyone.

Doesnt change the fact he had the best year(s) ever for a raptor player tho.

The Raptors franchise as a whole has been pathetic. His feats aren't anything to throw a parade over when you keep that in mind.

Meh...I'd put Bosh's '07 season up against any of Vince's.

But yeah, I see what you're getting at...to the general public Vince Carter is still probably the person most associated with the Raptors.

i loved vince and was kinda pissed when, before he left he was booed at the begining of games, but as soon as he started scoring everyone was chanting and cheering for him. But what he did was wrong, he was the leader here and for him to do what he did was jsut stupid. But hey looks whos laughfing now, hes gone, we are way better then the nets and we have one of if not the best GM in the business. Im happy he left beucase now he can always think "what would of happned if i wasent a pussy mommas boy and stayed with the raps"

Did Vince not get a huge laugh when his nets took us out? They may suck now, but the future is bright. Another lottery pick and LBJ.

you don't really thing vince Carter will stick around with lebron now, do you? By the time Lebron comes to the Nets (if ever), vince Carter will be spent and probably get traded as an useless expiring contract ... that would be the final irony, lebron gets to NJN and Carter gets the boot ...

yea probably that
i dont think VC likes being around other franchise players
ex. Bosh being the franchise in toronto leading to VC getting mad and leaving
he wants to be the main man no matter what

carter is not a good complement to lebron. What lebron needs is good shooters who can defend. Sure, it would be nice to have someone to spell him now and then with creating shots and all that, but to pay 16 millions for that is overkill. An ideal teammate for lebron would be a guy like Calderon or kapono. Calderon + Lebron + Bosh = dinasty
