Turkoglu Should Make Debut Later This Week

Quote:
Raptors forward Hedo Turkoglu has missed four straight preseason games due to fatigue.

However, coach Jay Triano told the Toronto Sun that Turkoglu should take part in full practices and get into some preseason games by the end of the week.

Turkoglu's schedule was tiring this summer. In addition to playing in the NBA Finals with the Magic, he played for the Turkish national team.

I was getting worried something serious is wrong with Turk .... My concern won't be completely alleviate until I see him on the court playing as usual.

Hedo will probably be rusty for a few games.

So what? Is pre-season, I won't be concerned if he is rusty for few games, I still want him ready when season starts. You don't want him to be rusty during season games.

He'll be fine, 16 days before the season starts. As long as he takes it slow, the guy just played 10 straight months of basketball. I think that even at the begining of the season he'll play a little less minutes. Maybe 30mpg the first few weeks of the season.

He's played all summer long, I doubt he'll be rusty.

Personally i'd like to see Hedo play an average of 30-32 minutes and play higher intensity all season. We have a deep bench and should try to take advantage of it by getting everyone to go all out both ends of the court.

I think he won't play more then around 33 minutes on most nights, with guys like Wright, Weems, Derozan that can play behind him, there's no need to really. In fact didn't he average 33MPG last season?

Precisely!
The advantage of having players like Weems, Johnson and even Banks means that they should be able to play at a higher level of intensity all year. Triano should be able to throw more full court defenses into the mix, even if only briefly, because they'll have the legs to do it without wearing down the starters.
Not only the depth but the athleticism of those players should be taken full advantage of.

Not to mention he'd have the freshness in his legs to stay effective for increased minutes during the playoffs. Knock on wood.

With the depth we possess, at least on paper, this season, Hedo won't be asked to play heavy minutes during the course of the regular season. So please, unless he truly is injured, get his out there to start working with his new teammates already!

Breaking News - Hedo plans to play in preseason

Coming up, Daybreak will arrive in the morning, more at eleven

Isn't this story about 2 weeks old already?

Great points on the apparent depth the Raps are showing at the wing - Should help to keep Hedo's minutes at a reasonable number and cover off any short term injury issues.

Depth - gotta love it!

Just watched Raptors today, Hedo went hard at practice today and feels good, he'll go at it again tomorrow and will to play Wednesday. Says he can't wait to get on the court with his new teammates and says he'll be nervous. lol

Too bad this isn't televised.

It looks like they read my message I posted yesterday ... enough popcorn and beer on the bench for Turk, get his ass on the floor

I think this is great news, grange was very gloom and doom the other week, implying that hedu might not play at all during pre-season.

yes, he will be rusty for a week, but there's plenty of time for him to catch up, assuming he does play this week. starting next week, there's only one game remaining until the end of the preseason I believe.

Actually it's being televised in the New England area by CSN Comcast Sports in HD. You know what that means! We likely won't have a Minnesota situation!
