Question Is Turk a clutch shooter?

Quote:
The data from 82 Games has not been updated for this season so we can only go off of last year’s data. Much of the data is provided in per-48 minute form, meaning the statistics are scaled to 48 minutes of clutch time (as defined earlier). In these 48 minutes of clutch time (based off of a sample size of 134 minutes for Turk), Hedo averaged 26.6 points, which was good for 51st overall. Not terrible, but certainly not elite. More damningly, however, is Turk’s efficiency from the field during clutch time (.357), which was significantly worse than his season average and was good for 156th overall.

Compare these clutch numbers to a player like Lebron James and the contrast is startling. In his 48 minutes (compiled from a sample size of 111 minutes), James averaged 55.9 points on .556 percent shooting from the field, which represents a marked improvement upon his normal field goal percentage of .489. A truly clutch player rises to the occasion and elevates their performance to another level when the game is on the line. Turkoglu’s statistical track record just doesn’t mesh with people’s percetptions of Hedo the fourth quarter assassin.

Subjective term..even a blind squirrel finds a nut every so often..I'm not saying that's true for Hedo, but if you shoot enough, eventually some will fall..and depending on when they fall leads to labels such as 'clutch'.

lets just say when the team is down by one with 10 seconds left, i would want the ball to be in Turk's hand. He has shot so many already i think he will be less stress about the shot than anyone else on the team

How many times has Bosh been clutch... Twice (Philly and Orlando)

Sure just compare him to the best player in basketball, get real. He is not Lebron and nobody ever said he was, but he did hit a clutch shot in OT tonight to give us the lead.

Hedo is 6'10" and he can handle the ball and create his own shot.

That is always going to be valuable.

He seems cool under fire as well which is also good.

But the stats were definitely interesting.....

One thing that I REALLY hope that we DON'T do is just give the ball to Hedo at the end of every game and simply let him iso.

We have options now.... let's use them.

I don't know about clutch in the true definition of the term, but he does have the experience and as a result, the confidence to take those shots more than I'd be comfortable with other guys on the team taking them. He certainly was clutch in the playoffs last year with Orlando from what I saw, even though they eventually lost. He does appear to be alittle on the thin side, physically. Don't know if it's better conditioning or muscle loss, but he could use another 10 pounds on his frame.

LOL that was awesome. He tries to teabag him.. then he gets off the rim and pushes Odom LOL. JO is so badass man, seriously. It was pretty smart too, Odom got his second T and out of the game.

Really good game last night Lakers vs. Miami.

Hedo is great but the other have to be prepared to get involved too, get open, plays called for them etcetera. Turkoglu is the most dangerous because he can drive and pass out. That has to be integrated in the 'clutch' moments of the game.

10Mil/yr in the NBA is middle of the road. It's not guaranteed All-star type of money. And starting his possible salary base at 5Mil (under full MLE) is way off. I'd say he's worth 8-9Mil, so as usual we overpayed slightly but not by that much imo. Plus i could care less, it isn't my $$.

I have to agree. He's certainly clutch. Why..........because he's proven to be so. Is he more clutch then everyone else.....no. If he was he'd be a max player and an All-star. But the guy has shown a patern of hitting big shots and if you don't believe me, go to Youtube and look at the 10 or so clips of him making game winning shots including in the playoffs, last night included.

The one patern i'm not liking is when we need an end of the shot clock-late game shot it's always going to Hedo now. Triano needs to go with the hot hand and Hedo as the second option once in a while.

He's the best player after Bosh in this team and he's proven in Orlando that he's clutch. He made at least 6-7 last second win shots there. And a really interesting fact: He's the only player in NBA2K10 as Point Forward
