Default TSN2 - How long before people living in Toronto can watch their own team?

Well, this issue is really starting to piss me off. TSN2 has got the rights to just about 1/4 of all the Raptors games this year. Being a Raptors fan and living in Toronto, it would be nice if i could watch my home team play.

I have saw a few weeks ago there was a post stating that rogers and tsn2 is close to a deal. Yet still there is no word of either side making any deals. Does anyone on here have any new info on this issue? I know that when i called rogers a few times after christmas to authorize my PVR, i tired to make a formal complaint, but they just told me they cant do that and that last they herd they were close to a deal. Its now January and im really starting to get mad. I cant get satalite (to many trees around me) so my only choice is rogers. Rogers is basicly ignoring the issue that they are making many customers very unhappy by holding us hostage and not offering TSN2. If any one has any new news on this issue that would be great.

Anthony

Update: I just taked to a nice guy at rogers, he said that beucase tsn2 is being greedy and trying to gouge rogers for a shit load of money that all complaints should be handed over to the CRTC. He said eventually the CRTC will have to step in and force the two sides to to come to an agreement.

http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/welcome.htm

Look on the left side, and select the option "complaints and inquires"

Im very close to getting bell, i was actually going to bell 1st but my cell and internet were rogers so i thought it made sense.... Bell told me i wouldnt even need to buy a "package" that you can order individual channels aswell... which is much better then being forced to buy a "package" of which, i dont watch alot of shows, some with HD "packages" why cant you just order the chan's u want??

I've written my MP already. Here's the deal though - the CRTC has zero power over the big guys like Rogers and Bell. These companies have played the regulators for years and years. There is not going to be anything done for us by government regulators with regard to our own public airwaves off of which these greedy motherfuckers milk profits, and it's pathetic that Rogers is encouraging action from the CRTC when they have done nothing but outspend them on lawyers whenever the CRTC tried to act against Rogers.

Which makes the link providers heroes in my books.

whose effected the most with this crap?
rogers or tsn?
i'm thinking tsn is losing because supposedly the Houston game only brought in 18,000 viewers. whereas a regular broadcast brings in 200,000+.
Rogers isnt going to budge... they arent losing anything, viewers are just pissed, but not enough to cancel their cable provider.

It depends if people are switching enough from Rogers to Bell to make the poor ratings something they can handle short-term, thinking that the subscribers will be long-term and the ratings will recover.

I dont' know about this but a lot of people are getting months of free service for this... myself included so it's definitely costing them.

I think this deal would be done if the team were a contender...the fact they are sucking this year is keeping the pressure down a bit.

What even more troubling about this whole thing is Rogers is a big sponsor of the Raptors but isnt showing around 30(cant remember exactly how many) games to the fanbase where the team is located.

It's not that difficult...call them up, say you want to cancel your service for cable and depending on how difficult you make it all my services and i'm going to Bell.

They'll ask why... you say you're a big basketball fan and more specifically a Raptors fan and you're tired of missing games. Say you called Bell and they've offered free installation and 3 months of full satellite tv at half price PLUS a discount on internet if I switch(that part is likely true because Bell LOVES getting Rogers customers..i've switched in the past and had huge discounts at first with Bell).

You will most likely then get an apologetic person on the other end of the phone that will offer you a discount in service to stick it out.

Worked for me and from what i've read in a few blogs it's worked for a lot of people.

If for some reason they dont' bite and you're not willing to switch in reality, just fake a disconnection and hang up to save your pride

It worked out great for me. I got a full year's discount on my hd pvr and all the hd channels free for 3 months. Now i get tsn, cbc and raps tv in hd not just the score.

As one of the few people who get the TSN2 channel, I'd just like to say...

Why does TSN buy the games in the first place and put them on TSN2.
They shouldn't of bought the rights to those games. I think this was probably their plan all along to pressure Rogers into getting TSN2. If I was Rogers, I would say fuck off as well. Do we really need a second TSN in canada?
Please no.
