Default TSN to air almost 50 Raptors games

WOW .... TSN and Rogers better get some sort of an agreement in place or there's going to be tons of fans that are going to be irate.

The big story is the involvement of TSN2, which launched in late August, but has yet to be picked up by Rogers Cable, the dominant distributor in the Toronto market and largest cable company in English language Canada.

It's speculated that the Raptors package on TSN2 will force Rogers to carry the digital channel. Rogers subscribers, who are Raptors fans, will complain loudly if they are denied as many as 25 game telecasts.

TSN2 is now carried by the leading cable and satellite distributors in Canada, except Rogers, and is in 3.2-million homes, almost twice as many homes as the club-owned Raptors NBA TV.

When the Raptors TV schedule is released, the remaining games, about 34, will be shared by CBC, which will carry Sunday afternoon games, The Score with Raptors NBA TV perhaps airing a small number.

Its funny how the Raptors and Rogers are good corporate media buddies, yet they don't pick up a channel that carries the majority of the Raptors games.

They better get it picked up quick, or I won't be happy.

tsn2???

WTF?? This is the dumbest crap ever. Why give Raptor games to the most Hockey centric idiotic sports channel in Canada?Rogers doesn't carry TSN2 (that may change now). This really pisses me off to no end.I'm also guessing that if TSN2 is picked up by Rogers we'll have to pay for it?

rogers should have it by the start of the season. When TSN applied for the channel in 2006, Rogers oked it, but didn't pick it up right away to support it. The yare looking at getting something done now. Just a little update.

Rogers own Sportsnet of course they'd poo-poo all over another TSN station.

That would be bullshite. There's no way a Canadian cable company can't provide the opportunity for fans to watch every game Canadian sports teams play. I'm just glad that I don't have Rogers

Im still trying to find out if League pass will be showing the games tsn2 has on it if rogers doesnt get it by the 28th, because i dont wanna miss the opening night TNT broadcast which is supposed to be on tsn2, not to mention all the possible raps games.

TSN is such a joke, wanting that much more money then they originally agreed to with rogers. Fucking hockey loving pieces of shit.

TSN is the main reason i'm off Hockey all together! They make me puke! And how they ended up with 60% of the Raptor games is beyond me.Who was the brainiak who said let's give 50 games to a Hockey network? Morons!

according to Doug Smith:

The first TSN2 game is Miami at Toronto on Nov. 16.

Aside from the 25 games on TSN2, TSN will pick up 23 games on its main network, The Score will broadcast 20, CBC will show 12 and Raptors TV will pick up the other two.

I don't think league pass will show games that are aired on another channel, regardless of the provider. I think the limitation comes from the league, not from the tv providers themselves. In any case, if it turns out they do show, I think I'll get it myself - I always wanted anyway, just couldn't come up with a decent argument that I actually need it ...

I'm looking on Rogers.com right now, and it looks like you need to get the Super Sports Pak to get League Pass, which is a $30/mnth thing - is this correct? Can't I get League Pass as a stand alone package?

Nope, you have to get the entire sports package. I dont watch the football or hockey but its still worth it if you love watching the NBA after work like I do. Any and every game to choose from every night. It really comes in handy after JAN where theres set games on the score and rapstv, and some of those hyped teams like CHI 2 yrs ago and MIA last year were on in meaningless games at night and youd obviously rather be watching the exciting newcomers like the Hornets from last year. If you can afford it its amazing.

I guess - but it's still a ripoff, since very few sport fans are following all those sports. If anything, they should at least allow it as a separate package for a lower price.
