Default Truth About Next Season

It may very well be the most important in Raptors history.

I am not going to hate on Nash, he owes us nothing and if I was him I would have gone to LA too. Alas, image is everything and that Raptors image may be at an all time low, mostly because of uneducated ranting of some reports and some of the crap I scanned through on here. (Really some of you are bat shit crazy.)

The casual fan now sees the organization as a joke, the media sees the organization as a joke, and now alot of the NBA is saying the same.

Truth of the matter is if the following happens it is disaster time.

1) Bargs can't stay healthy
2) Derozan doesn't become a starting 5 in this league
3) Val doesnt show any glimmer of being near read

I have never been worried about Raps attendance until towards the end of last year, I went to a bunch of games and it was empty. If this team can't show growth it might be fold up time.

I think the real issue has been the inability to draft a "gamechanger" if you are bad this long you should have a piece you can point to and right now we just don't have it.

As a long time BC supporter, I am getting a little fed up, and as a longtime Raptor fan I would love to defend the team and point to some positives and well Landry Friggen Fields and Lowry just arn't doing it for me. It might be time to do a proper gut, rebrand the team and start from scratch.

Oh and Ive missed this place....whats going on?

We out drew some playoff teams and were middle of the league in attendance as a horrid team. We're going nowhere. Oh and the team profited 24Mil.

As for the other stuff, 20 other teams have the same worries.

Well this came out of nowhere, :P Its been up and down, Toronto will always support their teams, a great city. I do believe this season is going to be a big test for us, our coaching staff has done a great job so far. I'm really looking forward to what happens this season, I have big hopes, (for once) lol.

Who said the team is going anywhere?

Also the team profited alot more than 24 mil...or they better have.

Just saying when I am worried......they should be worried

i am a huge fan of the lowry deal. he is such a dwayne casey player, i think he's going to fit seamlessly into the system. i see game-changing potential in Valanciunas. Maybe not right now, or next year, but I do think it's there. Nash to LA was a blessing in my opinion. The fact the organization was so gung-ho about the deal makes me skeptical of ownership's priorities...but I don't hate the core that has been put together. I'm actually somewhat optimistic.

The performances of the 2 rooks (Val and Ross) will definitely be key. If these kids can play it'll def. help BC's case and our team will probably look a lot better than it did last year.

I think that Fields and Lowry are 2 players that Raps fans are going to love though. Hard-working guys with good bball IQ.

Have to agree. I even like the Fields deal, well other than the money in the final year which is puke worthy.

Makes no difference how long you suck if you don't suck bad enough
You have to be really lucky to draft a game changer outside the top 5.

That being said, we will be a playoff team for years to come based on the current roster and the potential additions next summer when we could have almost 20M in cap space if we amnesty Amir and trade kleiza.

I have to say you are setting this team to fail though, there's no way demar will ever be a starting center in this league

Uhhhmm, you're inserting Hakeem instead of Lowry? Dissing Valanciunas and comparing him to Bargnani? Sam Mitchell compared to Casey?

I seriously think you were bored and felt the need to piss on everyones finally happy day. There will be plenty of time to vent, we've done enough of that this week. Give it a rest for today will ya.

You feel the need to put down every player we have right now based on disatisfactions of the past? What was the point of this thread?

i really don't think we are anywhere right now.
i think they try (their best ?) to build a balance team.
we would have some asset, for sure :
Caldy, JJ, ED, Amir, JB
they can all be deal for a starter SF (Iguy would be my preference) and maybe if barg don't show the same this season as the 13 great games he had in the beginning of the season, they will trade his ass.

for what i know, and i suppose evertone here, we have a young core right now, we also know BC would put some trade before the deadline to make casey happy.

like veryone i want to see this tam compete. and last season they compete, also injury break the spirit.

5 new young players : Lowry, Fields, acy, ross and JV, that's something we can hope will work.

very impatient to be the 1st october. and see what we really have to compete for the playoffs.

Olajawan played for Lenny.

If we end up with a good lot of two-way players it greatly improves our chances of mitigating the sorts of problems you outlined Benzo. A good start to that so far. Need another move or two yet. The next two years are pretty much make or break for me, but I'm hopeful at the moment.
