The father of former Toronto Raptors coach Jay Triano faces several sex-related charges involving children following an investigation by Niagara police.

According to Niagara Regional Police, investigators received information earlier this month regarding a complaint of a sexual assault against a young girl.

This matter was investigated by the NRP child abuse unit and, during the course of the investigation, police became aware of allegations of sexual offences committed against another young female said to have occurred within the last five years.

A suspect was arrested Thursday.

Charged with two counts each of sexual assault and sexual interference is Howard "Howie" Triano, 78, of Niagara Falls.

Triano is scheduled to appear in St. Catharines court on Friday for a bail hearing.

The investigation is continuing and anyone with information is urged to contact the police at 905-688-4111 ext. 5100 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

Says who? We don't know him any better than his father. How much do you really know anybody these days?

Not that i know Jay Triano personally, but i would assume he has not sexually assaulted a child. Call me naive. Actually I would assume most people are not guilty of such a crime.

I would also assume this whole thing is very difficult for Jay to deal with and even just think about.

True enough. But many people that know his father I would imagine didn't think he could do such a thing. All I'm saying is we never know anyone as well as we think we do.

There's a picture of her walking from the courthouse and she looks well enough. Maybe there's someone at Linhaven who thinks she's his mom.

Sorry, I didn't see, 'or dad'. Apparently, his dad has had a few strokes the past few years and CH showed footage of Jay helping his dad into the front door of his house in the Falls. It was hard to watch - I felt so bad for Jay struggling to get his father, who's accused of horrible things, into his house with cameras recording every minute. Anyway, good chance he was at Linhaven.
