Triano: Team probably won't be ready for the start of the season

Quote:
So Jay - do you have enough time to blend this all together to your satisfaction?

"You know what? Probably not," said Triano before Thursday night's 124-112 pre-season loss to the Houston Rockets. "But we knew when we brought in nine new faces from training camp last year, it wasn't going to happen in the month of October. This is something that's going to evolve."

And he complicating factors are everywhere you look. There was Bosh's hamstring, and there is Turkoglu's fatigue-slash-tendinitis that kept him out of training camp until this week, and there's the fact that neither guy is in NBA shape yet. And then there's the fact that the defence and rebounding - the same stuff we've been talking about with this team since Vince Carter left town - remains a little short of NBA standards.

"We might have to go back to the drawing board a little bit," said Bosh, after his team allowed Houston to drill 13 largely open three-pointers, and shoot a healthy 56%. "We've made progress, but tonight we took a step back."
Time is of the essence for Raptors

TRIANOOOOOOOOO is overated...iavaroni should take over. hes tougher, smarter, better defensivley. A bad start is horrible for chemistry... the teams gonna lose at the start big time.. get blamed by media, blame each other, get frustrated and fall apart.. come on mann i was so excited for this season and i still am , but each day i lose a bit of my excitement and it gets replaced by worry.. jay sucks, but bc wont fire the guy.. and we all know it.

Triano is unrated if anything .... Nobody really knows how he'll do, this is his first season as a head coach.

That being said, with the tough schedule in the first two months, if we're not ready, it could spell disaster. If on January 1st we're 11-19, the Bosh talk will hit the roof ...

Yep, horrible for chemistry, remember the bad start they had when they one our first and so far only division championship. That team sure had horrible chemistry.

IMHO Whether the team is ready or not Triano's comments feel like a built in excuse. I definatley understand that the team has new players/injuries/tough sched. to start the season and will need time to adjust, but some things are better left unsaid.

we've played 6 pre-season games with 9 new players, and there's already talk that triano should be fired? you have to be kidding me. any of you guys ever taken a new job (and i mean a real one, y'know with complicated deliverables and difficult timelines) and been at peak performance 3-4 weeks in? running a new department with all of the processes clicking, everyone knowing each other's strengths, ground rules established and no hiccups? new paradigms take time to develop. none of this should be coming as a surprise.

Would you rather have him bullshit to us now only to find out later that the team wasn't as great as he said?

sorry but you guys saying he is over rated and should be fired are really crazy. This team has had like 3-4 weeks of training camp, what are they suposted to just be amazing and look like they have been playing together for 5 years already. Sure shits a little rough, most of these guys have never played with eachother before. You all gotta take a chill pill.

$100 says when we dont get off to an amzing start, after 2 weeks of reg season there will be the FIRE TRIANO thread or the FIRE BC thread, man you guys really shit your selves way too fast.

Also, since everyone is so new, why didnt they start the training camp a week or two earlier? Bosh and turk are deff out of game shape beucase after 22 min turk looked like he was having a heart attack

I think we can be ready for the season. If not it'll take 2-3 games into the season, not longer then that IMO. BTW how many more pre-season games do we have left?

im sorry but what excuses has triano ever given?

also, if you listen to any player that has played for jay, they rave about him, 2 time mvp steve nash wrote the foreword for his book.

he helps coach the usa olympic team, and this is all before he ever became the head coach of the raps.

i cant even imagine what a team under some of you guys would be like, you would go thru 3 coaches a year...

20 point loss.....FIRED
3 game loosing streak....FIRED
calderon 5 turnovers....FIRED

Dude, I start the thread with FIRE TRIANO the next day after he replaced Sam Mitchell. As I said before, Triano is a solid assistant coach but he doesn't have the personality to be a head coach. Now, he got the chance to prove himself, I really hope he proves me wrong and he succeed as head coach with Raptors.
