Default The Tragic Trading of Marco Belinelli

Someone's very sad about the trade.

Quote:

Let me tell you something about Marco Belinelli.

I have a Marco Belinelli hat.

And let me tell you something else. The gray eminences in the Warriors front office have just traded him to the Toronto Raptors for three cans of paint and a suppository. Well, for Devean George.

Yes, I know it’s unlikely that George will ever play for the Warriors. And I know the Warriors have more shooting guards than Don Nelson has beers in his fridge.

But this is Marco Belinelli. Someone whose eyes said “I am asleep” and whose shot said “I can do this in my sleep”.

Last season, Belinelli proved to be a more capable point guard than Monta Ellis or, painful as it was to watch, Stephen Jackson.

He even risked playing defense against Kobe Bryant.

And, well, he’s Belinelli. Someone who, when he emerged onto the court, would make the fans turn their eyes away from fish and chips and teenage cheerleaders.

When Belinelli was present, the Warriors played with something resembling brains. His over-the-backboard shot against the Utah Jazz last year was the quintessential highlight of the season.

Corey Maggette can't do that. (Crediticapp.com)

Well, other than the surprise of Corey Maggette taking the ball and driving to the basket, hoping to get the foul.

Belinelli might be very happy in Toronto. He has Andrea Bargnani to trade soccer jokes with. And he has a myriad of Spaniards who understand the virtues of passing, moving, shooting and enjoying the team game that is basketball.

But I don’t live in Toronto. I live in the Bay Area. Which means I will not be able to get my Belinelli fix. I will not be able to see him coming out of Niketown, laden with large shopping bags when he’s supposed to have an ankle injury.

And I will not be able to go to Umbria, a fine Italian restaurant, and see Belinelli eating a pasta that was actually named after him.

I know you can’t have everything in life. I have tried to explain this to many lovers. But life without Marco Belinelli will be like trying to open your front door with a toothbrush.

Frustrating.

If the Warriors are interested, we should try to trade Patrick O'Bryant for Andres Biedrins

Excellent trade for the Raptors.

I'm sure with Bryan's wheeling and dealing skillz he can convince the Warriors it's a completely different person
