Default Trading up in the draft

So it looks like the Raps will likely have a 4-5 pick in the draft this spring if everything continues to shape up like it has. According to ESPN all the players that the Raps would likely want to draft Such as Irving, Williams, Barnes (the SF and PG's) are all top 3 looking players right now.. All thats left after that seems to be PF's and Centers. Being that the Raps have Davis at PF and Barg's at C (amir in there too) i wonder if Brian would be willing to trade up in the Draft? if Cleveland gets the Number 1 pick this year would the Raps be able to trade the 4th/5th and a few other pieces without giving up Davis or Demar?
Davis at PF Derozan at SG and Irving at PG is a great way to start a rebuild.

irving, walker, wiliams, barnes and knight are all guys worth taking. i don't see the need to trade up unless we're out of the top 5.

you may be right,..... but D.Williams and Barnes are the guys this team needs. Would be nice to get a guy that fits.

Sullinger is allegedly going back to school which could hurt us since he was supposed to go top 5

We may be in the perfect spot to draft Kemba Walker!

Also, If we end up with the 4th/5th, and there's nobody there that we necessarily want, we can attempt to trade down (for instance with Utah's 6th and 12th) and pick up more assets.

All of this is moot though, until the draft lottery, where "mysteriously" the Cavs and Raptors will have the 1st and 2nd picks...not saying, just sayin'.

Kemba Walker reminds me of Dwyane Wade more than anyone I've seen in a long time. Right now Walker > Irving. I think Irving is overrated.

Couldn't agree more. It's like we're both on the same 'trane of thought.

Not to derail the thread, but I put that in the draft thread, and I think he reminds me of a bit of a mix between DWade, and Allen Iverson (minus the ball hoarding, and craziness).

I'm watching Kemba and I think he would be a good 2 or backup 1. He shoots to much for him to start as a 1. IMO.

If anything, I think this may be the draft to trade out of and try to add a piece or so. Maybe acquire a mid-round pick to grab Jimmer and go from there.

What are Kemba's stats? Does he have good size? My only worry about him would be that he'd be another Ben Gordon.... we already have a 2-guard in DD.... don't need another one right now.

Kemba is PG, who is also a great scorer. He scores a lot because he has to. He's not going to be the purest of PG prospects, but he can certainly facilitate.

I heard doug smith on the fan 590 saying the Raps are really looking at Irving.
The scouts also say hes one of the only real impact players in the draft this year.. The fact that the Cavs have two top ten picks may mean the are more willing to trade the top one this year. Assuming the raps dont win the lottery and the Cav's do i wouldn't be suprised.

The problem is that the Cavs will demand a lot for the draft pick.

I can see them demanding Ed Davis or DeMar DeRozan for the pick. We probably won't give up on DeMar, but Davis + top 5 pick for Irving is debatable since we have Amir Johnson.

Walker's measurables is whats gonna hurt him...he's basically Allen Iverson size.
I'm not crazy about Irving either, but some of the tough buckets he hit while in the lane is impressive...

For a PG, he will probably be able to run a team, but he's looks like he'll get scorched by opposing PGs

I'd imagine that the pre-draft workouts are going to mean quite a bit to guys like Walker and Fredette.... if they perform very well against other top prospects their stocks could rise.

This, I want use to move down. I think Knight or Walker will be available at 10.

Jimmer is gonna be terrible in the league

i honestly think his d is considerably worse than Jose's.. maybe hell devote the summer to it but he can't play a lick of d

he does have great range tho so hell be able to hit 3's.. his handles arent overly impressive neither is his decision making.. basically JJ Redick with better handles
